Frequently Asked Questions

  • Do WAT swimmers do other sports and activities?
    • WAT believes that participating in a variety of sports and activities at an early age is critical to the development of both the child and the athlete.  We encourage our swimmers to find a healthy balance that allows them to experience it all.

  • Do I need to be a great athlete to join?
    • NO!!  Great athletes are the result of the knowledgeable and consistent technique and training regiment imparted by our coaching staff.

  • How do I determine if WAT is right for me?
    • First, look around here on our website!  You will find information about our history and what we have going on!  You can also find information on our fee structure, practice schedules, meets schedules, news and more.  Next, talk to a WAT parent!  Our families that are involved in the program are the most useful and informative resource about WAT.  Third, contact a current member of the coaching staff.  Their contact information is listed under the “coaches” button and would be glad to walk you through any questions you might have about the program.

  • How do I find out more?
    • We are always happy to answer questions about WAT!!  Please use the “Contact Us” portion of our website or Facebook and we will be in touch with your shortly!

  • I’m unsure, can I come watch a practice?
    • Most of our practices are open to watch.  We ask that you be respectful of our coaches by sitting quietly in the bleachers.  We encourage you to reach out to a Board Member prior to coming so we can meet you at the pool and explain/answer any questions you have.

  • What group should I register my swimmer for?
    • The best way for us to determine the appropriate group for a swimmer is to see them in the water!  Most often, coaches will have a swimmer register for a lower group and move them up if necessary.

  • Do I have to be a member of USA Swimming?
    • Yes.  Because WAT is a member of USA Swimming, all swimmers must be registered.  Registration is based on age and is approximately $72 per year.

  • I’m hearing things and have NO idea what they mean! Can you help?
