October News

Jerry Rodriguez

Hey Team,

Can you believe that it is October already? This is going to be a busy month so here is a list of what is going on with the team with updates, practice schedule adjustments, swim meets, team meeting, annual team awards and more.

  • First of all I would like to welcome our newest teammates and their families to the team. They are: Dylan Asay, Aubree and Baylee Kraft, Onyx Miller, Reilly Morris, Hayden and Sophia Serr, Ryder Stewart, Mathew Watson, Jacob and Samuel Williams. Great to see the team growing!

  • We are still unable to offer our SwimAmerica learn to swim program due to COVID safety issues.

  • Our annual awards banquet (as mentioned by Daniel in a previous email) will be Tuesday the 13th at the Downtown Commons at 6:00 pm. This event is to honor our athletes for the 2019-2020 season. It is open to all members of the team and their families, even if your athlete is not receiving an award. There will also be a brief meeting for parents and our ever popular Piranha Buck Auction. Swimmers, start looking for those Piranha Bucks! New swimmers will receive a few bucks for joining the team. Donations of auction items are still needed. Don’t need to be expensive, can be lightly used or gift cards that are appropriate for athletes aged 6 to 18. You can bring items to me at the pool or to the Downtown Commons on the 13th.

  • The pool will be closed Thursday the 15th for a PHS girls swim meet so No Practice that day.

  • Our first meet of the season will be the Lander Spook Splash Saturday October the 31st. I will attach the meet information to a separate email that will follow this one, for everybody to read. There are a number of changes to how a USA swimming meet is to be conducted. Please familiarize yourself with the new rules and requirements for safety. If you are not comfortable with attending this meet in these strange times, please do not sign your athletes up. The sign-ups should be up on our website soon. Entry deadline should be around the 13th. Swimmers may only swim 5 events.

  • Our annual Adopt a Highway clean-up is coming up soon, most likely Saturday the 17th or 24th. I will let everybody know after we decide at the PSC board meeting this coming Monday.

  • I will have order forms for team suits and other gear, at the pool this week.

  • Finally, we will be adjusting the blue group practice time (with board approval) on Monday, Wednesday and Friday to be from 5:45-7:00 pm. Other group schedules will remain the same.

See you at the pool.
