Adopt a Highway Clean up

Jerry Rodriguez

Hey Team,

We had a great turn out at our annual awards banquet last night although not everyone on the team was there. Congrats to the athletes who earned awards! I will attach the awards list to another email.

  • No practice Thursday due to the PHS girls swim meet.

  • Entries due today for the Spook Splash.

  • I will have order forms for the team suit and other apparel at the pool tonight. (Same suit as last year due to COVID situation)

  • I will have Swim-A-Thon fundraiser packets at the pool tonight.

  • Blue group practice time now extended to 7:00 pm on Monday, Wednesday and Friday.

  • All team members should plan to be at the pool at least ten minutes before their practice time so that we can divide the lanes between the groups. As you know, we are only allowed 6 lanes and pay dearly for them.

Our Adopt a Highway clean up is a go for this Saturday (October 17th).

  • We will start at 8:00 AM.

  • We will meet at my brother Ric’s house and park cars there. 970 Road 18 (also known as highway 294)

  • Wear appropriate work clothing, good shoes, boots are recommended. Long pants will protect your legs. Good work gloves are required. Wear appropriate clothing, weather is changing all the time. Safety vests and plastic bags will be provide by WYODOT.

  • Be aware that it is beet harvest time, so there are a lot of trucks on the highway.

  • We are responsible for both sides of the highway out to the fences.

  • The Plan: meet at Ric’s house, brief safety talk, team will be divided into two groups. One will start at the bridge. The other group will be carpooled to the southern end of our section (2 miles). We will meet somewhere in the middle of the route and be carpooled back to Ric’s. Next we will meet at my house (791 Road 18) for brunch. You will bring your own sack lunch and maintain proper social distancing.

  • Sign up on our web site so that we know how many are helping.

This should go a little faster this time since we did such a fantastic job last time.

See you then.

Jerry
