Hey Team,

Great job everybody at the meet in Cody last week and get ready for the Polar Bear Splash next week.

This past weekend would normally have been the annual Wyoming Swimming House of Delegates meeting and team get together. In light of the current COVID situation it was decided to have the HOD meeting via ZOOM and skip the get together completely. Many things were discussed and if anybody would like to see the minutes I can forward them to you.

Election of officers for the board included our own Daniel Diver being elected to serve as treasurer for Wyoming Swimming. Congrats Daniel! We know that he will do an awesome job and hopefully continue to serve as our fearless leader with the Powell Swim club.

In addition, Daniel was also voted 2021 Official of Year for Wyoming Swimming by all of the other officials in the state. This is an incredible honor and well deserved. It also continues a legacy of great officials coming from our small club including Teri Oursler, Susie Rodriguez, Bob Parsons and others. Let’s continue this tradition by getting more of you parents to become officials.

The annual meeting also includes the Top 5 Swimmers awards. This year we had four of our athletes achieve one or more top five times in the state. Well done swimmers! They were:

Karee Cooley, 11-12 girls 200 fly

Kaylen Greenwald, 11-12 girls 1650 free

Nate Johnston, 15-16 boys 200 back, 17 & over 200 back, 17 & over 100 breast, 17 & over 200 breaststroke

Elizabeth Ligget, 15-16 girls 500 free

Two members of our team were also honored for their participation at the 2021 Western Zones Senior Champioships. They were:

Nate Johnston

Rui Parker.

As a reminder, there is no practice Thursday or Friday but if you want to get out and do something to justify the feast that we will be partaking in there is the PHS Robotics Club’s annual Turkey Trott 5K walk/run fundraiser on Thanksgiving Day. Registration is at 8:00 at PHS Commons, race starts at 9:00 am.

Have a great holiday!

Jerry
