Recertification for all official positions is required every 3 years.   Most officials certifications are good through the end of 2026 and some even longer.  At any point during 2026, recertification clinics and tests can be taken.   No need to wait till just before the certification expires.

USA Swimming Officials Certification Standards April 2024

For Concussion, Athelete Protection, Background check, and certification clinics and tests,  login into USA Swimming and go to Education.

Referees are required to take concussion training annually, the Concussion certificate needs to be emailed to [email protected] and the Oregon Officials Chair ([email protected]).

All training clinics and tests (other than Concussion) are automatically updated in SWIMS.

Background Check - two years
Expires two years after the last last completion date

Athlete Protection Training - annually
Expires one year after the last completion date

Concussion Training (Referees only) - annually
Expires one year after the last completion date
