The YMCA has been America's leading swim instructor for more than 100 years. But our aquatics programs extend beyond instruction. We also provide recreational, competitive and specialty aquatics programs for all ages and abilities, including parent-child classes, water exercise and therapy, water safety and rescue, and water sports. Programs and classes vary by location.
For more than 130 years, the Y has been the nation’s leading provider of swim lessons and has helped children and adults of all ages improve their swimming skills, learn water safety and build relationships with others – all while having fun!
Whether you or your child are taking your first dip in the water, or hoping to perfect your stroke, we’re confident we have the right program for you.
All of our instructors have been trained according to national YMCA swim lesson standards and are certified in CPR, AED and First Aid. In addition to helping swimmers learn all four strokes, our instructors also embrace the Y’s core values of caring, honesty, respect and responsibility and model behaviors that help youth and adults be caring and responsible individuals in our community.
Make sure your child develops a vital life skill that will help him/her learn how to achieve goals, gain confidence and be a team player in the pool and beyond.
Is your child comfortable with all four strokes and eager to learn more? Ask us about our youth swim teams. From reading the pace clock to mastering legal starts and turns, your child will have plenty of opportunities to perfect his/her swimming skills, gain confidence, work on time management and goal setting, and further develop the ability to be a successful team player in and out of the water. Learn about swim team practices and other details in your Y's swim program brochure or simply ask our aquatics staff when you are on site.
If you are an adult who wants to learn how to swim, or has a desire to become more confident in the water, we have swim lessons for adults too, in group or private settings. Once you become proficient you can consider joining one of our masters swim teams or simply enjoy swimming as your healthy activity for life!
