Turtles in Training

PROGRAM COORDINATOR: AMANDA POPE

Turtles in Training is a "Learn to Swim" program designed for our younger swimmers. Swimmers must be 3 years or older, and they MUST be potty-trained. There are 3 levels to accommodate the variety of swimmers:

Bronze (beginners) - introduce swimmers to the water;  get them comfortable; go underwater; kick

Silver (intermediate) - for those just learning to swim; focus on swimming widths of pool with freestyle arms and introduce backstroke

Gold (more advanced) - this group is preparing for their band and the jump to swim team; focus is on mechanics, endurance, and treading water

The groups are coached by our lifeguards and older swim team members.  Many work year round in a swim lessons program as instructors and are very knowledgeable.

Turtles in Training runs 4 days a week (M - Th), starting after school the Wednesday after Memorial Day.  Groups are 30 min in duration.  The times switch to mornings once the pool opens full time.  The program concludes Thursday, July 22nd with a mini meet and diving board opportunity.

**Once a child receives their swim band, they will no longer qualify for the lessons program, and will be transitioned to the main pool for further instruction with the swim team coaches.
