Roger Dent, Head Coach

Roger is looking forward to his 3rd season coaching the Dolphins. Off-season, Roger keeps busy as a coach for Tollefson. Roger began swimming in the suburbs of New York when he was 7 and fell in love with the water. For 16 years, he raced for the Long Island Aquatic Club, and in his summers, he competed in his local summer league for the Clinton G Martin Duckies. He was recruited for the University of Maryland College Park Swim Team for butterfly, breaststroke, and IM. He taught at a weekly swim clinic while at UMD for local children ages 8-14. After graduating in 2011, he qualified and raced at the 2012 Olympic Trials in the 100 and 200 butterfly. In 2014, he joined the New York Athletic Club where he was nominated as captain of the Men's team from 2015-2019. Catherine Belyakov, Assistant Head Coach

Catherine is returning to the Somerset Dolphins for the 2024 season as Assistant Head Coach. She was previously Assistant Coach for the Dolphins in 2022 and oversaw the Minis program in 2021 and 2022. Catherine is a 2024 graduate of Duke University, where she swam Breast and IM. She was named to the ACC Academic Honor Roll every season and to the All-ACC Academic Team in the 2022-2023 season. She was also named to the CSCAA Scholar All-American First team and Second Team,a and awarded the Matt McKenna Team Above and Beyond Award and the Blue Devil Award. Prior to Duke, Catherine was a top swimmer at Quince Orchard High School, RMSC, and for the Quince Orchard Otters summer team (then Division B). Catherine was a six-time Maryland state champion swimmer, five-time NISCA All-American, set two records in the 100 Breast and 200 IM, and qualified for the U.S. Open in the 100 Breast as a junior. She was also a Metropolitan Champion in the 100 Breast and named to the Washington Post Winter All-Met First Team. Catherine holds numerous pool records across MCSL and holds the team records at Quince Orchard in the 15-18 Age Group in Free, Back, Breast, Fly, and IM. In high school, she was a member of the National Honor Society, National English Society, Math Honors Society, and Rho Kappa Honors Society. Catherine is available for private lessons - sign up here.

 
Elana Bilbao, Junior Coach
This is Elana's second year as a Junior Coach for Somerset. She was a Minis coach for two years and this summer is her 11th on the Somerset Swim Team. Elana is a rising senior at Bethesda Chevy Chase High School and swims for the school and the Capitol Sea Devils. Clara Bilbao, Junior Coach
This is Clara’s second year as a Junior Coach for Somerset. She was a Minis coach for 2 years, and this summer will be her 11th year on the Somerset Swim Team. Clara is a rising senior at B-CC High School and can’t wait for this season! She is happy to offer private lessons  -  sign up here
 
Cillian Doherty, Junior Coach
This is Cillian's fourth year on the Somerset swim team and his second year as a Junior Coach. He is a rising senior at Bethesda Chevy Chase High School. As a swimmer on his BCC High School team and the Capitol Sea Devils, he is thrilled to take on a much more active role in mentoring all swimmers throughout the summer. Eliza Fox, Junior Coach
This is Eliza's first year as a Junior Coach for Somerset. She was previously a Minis coach for a year, and this summer will be her 9th year on the Somerset swim team. Eliza is a rising junior at B-CC and swims for both the B-CC team and The Capitol Sea Devils. Sedona Hawkins, Junior Coach
This is Sedona’s second year as a Junior Coach for Somerset. She was a Minis coach for 2 years, and this summer will be her 11th year on the Somerset Swim team. Sedona is a rising senior at Holton-Arms, where she swims on her school team. She cannot wait for the swim season to start and is excited to return as a junior coach! Peter Kumar, Junior Coach
Peter has been swimming since he was five years old and has been a Dolphin for nine years. He swam for the American Embassy School while living in India and joined Nation's Capital Swim Club (NCAP) when he returned to the U.S. in 2016. As a rising senior Peter swims for Georgetown Day School and year-round for NCAP. He is excited for his second year as a junior coach. Phoebe Lewis, Junior Coach
Phoebe is thrilled to serve as a junior coach for the Dolphins this year and participate in her 12th year on the team! She previously spent three years of being a minis coach and serving as Minis coordinator in 2023, giving swim lessons, and working year-round as a head coach for FINS Swimming. She is a rising senior at Bethesda Chevy Chase High School and swims year-round, previously for NCAP and currently for TOLL.
 
Avery Mascott, Junior Coach
This is Avery's first year as a junior coach for the Somerset Dolphins. She was a minis coach for three years and this will be her 10th season as a Dolphin. She swam for the Nation’s Capital Swim Club for seven years and is a rising junior at National Cathedral School, where she competes with NCS’s swim team. Joey Panner, Junior Coach
Joey Panner has been a Dolphin for 12 years and is beyond excited to start her 13th year on the team and her third year as a junior coach. Joey is a graduate of Montgomery Blair High School where she was a member of the Blair swim team. She will attend Pitzer College next fall. She is very willing to give lessons to any new or looking to improve swimmer - sign up here!
 
Nini Panner, Junior Coach
This is Nini’s 3rd year as a Junior Coach for Somerset. She was a minis coach for 2 years, and this year will be her 13th year on the Somerset Swim Team.  Nini has swum with the Capitol Sea Devils and the Charles E. Smith Jewish Day School swim team. A graduating senior, she will attend Tel Aviv program at Columbia University next fall. She can’t wait to get back on the pool deck with the team and have another great summer! Olivia Zaft, Junior Coach
This is Olivia’s second year as a Junior Coach for Somerset. She was a Minis coach for 2 years, and this summer will be her 11th year on the Somerset Swim team. Olivia is a rising senior at B-CC and swims for both the B-CC team and The Capitol Sea Devils.
