Calen Janesky, Head Coach

This is Calen's first year as head coach for the Somerset Dolphins. Calen is originally from Arizona and has been in the DMV for 6 years. She grew up swimming for her neighborhood swim team and swam for her high school. In college, she worked as a swim instructor for a swim school and ran a developmental swim program. She has coached for Nation's Capital Swim Club for the past two years and has experience with all levels and age groups. In her free time, she likes to rock climb, go hiking, and read.

Julia Hemphill, Assistant Coach

This is Julia’s first year as an assistant coach for Somerset. Julia is originally from California and has lived in Maryland for 3 years. She grew up swimming for her neighborhood swim team, her local high school team, and eventually was recruited to swim and play water polo at her local community college. Julia has worked as both a swim coach and a swim lesson instructor for over 6 years, with experience coaching neighborhood swim teams, high school teams, and most recently with the Capitol Sea Devils. She has experience working with all age levels and swimming backgrounds, and is so excited to be joining Somerset this summer! Gage Bolten, Junior Coach

This is Gage's first year as a Junior Coach. He co-led the Minis program in 2024 after serving two years as a Minis coach and this is his ninth year on the Somerset swim team. He is a rising junior at the Landon School, where he also swims on the Varsity Swim Team and plays water polo. Gage swims year-round for Nation's Capital Swim Club as part of their Gold 1 group. He is excited for the opportunity to be a junior coach on the team and is happy to offer private lessons  -  sign up here !

Cillian Doherty, Junior Coach

This is Cillian's fifth year on the Somerset swim team and his third year as a Junior Coach. He is a 2025 graduate of Bethesda Chevy Chase High School. As a swimmer on his BCC High School team and the Capitol Sea Devils, he is thrilled to take on a much more active role in mentoring all swimmers throughout the summer. Lola Fuentes-Darling, Junior Coach
This is Lola’s first year as a Junior Coach. She co-led the Mini’s program last year and coached Minis for two years. This is Lola’s fifth year on the Somerset swim team. She swam for the BCC varsity swim team and forTollefson and Sea Devils. She is excited to teach and bond with the swimmers this summer. Sedona Hawkins, Junior Coach
This is Sedona’s third year as a Junior Coach for Somerset. She was a Minis coach for 2 years, and this summer will be her 12th year on the Somerset Swim team. Sedona is a 2025 graduate of the Holton-Arms, where she swam on her school team. She cannot wait for the swim season to start and is excited to return as a junior coach! Avery Mascott, Junior Coach
This is Avery's second season as a junior coach for the Somerset Dolphins. She was a minis coach for three years and this will be her 11th season as a Dolphin. She swam for the Nation’s Capital Swim Club for seven years and is a rising senior at National Cathedral School, where she competes with NCS’s swim team. Julia Meddin, Junior Coach
This is Julia’s first year as a Junior Coach with Somerset. Before coaching, she was a Minis Coach for three years, and this year will be her eleventh year swimming for the Dolphins. This spring, she graduated from B-CC High School and will be attending Columbia in the fall. At B-CC, she was a member of the Varsity Swim Team for three years. During the winter seasons, she has also swum for the Capitol Sea Devils. She is excited to be coaching for her last year on the team and is happy to offer private lessons -   sign up here
 
Samuel Torrecilla, Junior Coach

This is Samuel’s 5th year on the Somerset Swim Team. He served three consecutive years as a Minis coach and is excited to step into the role of a Junior Coach. He is a rising senior at Bethesda Chevy Chase high school where he plays Ultimate Frisbee and is captain of the team. This summer along with swimming for the Dolphins and coaching, he will be playing for a competitive U20 frisbee team in DC this summer. He is looking forward to a great Somerset Swim Season!
 
Olivia Zaft, Junior Coach
This is Olivia’s third year as a Junior Coach for Somerset. She was a Minis coach for 2 years, and this summer will be her 12th year on the Somerset Swim team. Olivia is a 2025 graduate of B-CC and swam for both the B-CC team and The Capitol Sea Devils.
