The GOLD Sharks Swim Team is a program of the Goldsboro YMCA and is the premier swim team in Wayne County, with its home pool being in one of the largest YMCA aquatics centers in the country. The team has a rich tradition and history, dating back to the 1970's, and has hosted many outsanding meets through the years, involving the youngest beginner athletes to future Olympic swimmers.
The team provides youth with the opportunity to participate in year round competitive sports and shares in the Y's mission "to put Christian principles into practice through programs that build healthy spirit, mind and body for all." GOLD is committed to promoting achievement, positive relationships and a sense of belonging as it strives implement the team's mission "to help program members reach their full potential in and out of the water in a safe and supportive environment."
GOLD offers quality swimming instruction and training. The team's coaching staff, led by veteran head coach Keegan Ingelido, places a strong emphasis on goal setting, work ethic, time management, competition and team loyalty, but also develops its athletes as people, teaching character, leadership, commitment, and service. Importantly, our staff seeks to create a fun envirnonment as the athletes learn and grow.
As a team member of both YMCA and USA Swimming, GOLD provides a variety of competitive opportunities for swimmers of all levels to achieve their respective goals.
