*Approximate ages are listed with each group, but coaches will use discretion based on a variety of factors in assigning swimmers to groups.

*All swimmers (whether they swim meets or not) MUST be registered with USA Swimming. Yearly fee is $20 for Flex USA Swimming Membership (cannot participate in more than two meets) or $81 for Premium USA Swimming Membership (no restrictions).

* Those swimmers in the Thunderstorm and Tropical Storm groups must select one practice time slot. Swimmers may only practice during the time slot selected.

 

Level 1-Thunderstorm

Approximate Age Range: 5-8

Practices offered per week: 3

Monthly Dues: $65.00

Duration: 45 mins

Practice Time: MWF 4:00-4:45 OR 6:00- 6:45

Attendance recommendation: 2-3

Swim meets: One home meet recommended

Equipment: Kickboard, pull buoy, and mesh bag (all optional)

Group description: Swimmers entering the Thunderstorm group must be water safe, be able to tread water, swim one length of the pool and kick on their back for one length of the pool. The goal of the Thunderstorm group is to learn proper and legal freestyle and backstroke as well as an introduction into breaststroke, butterfly, starts and turns.

 

Level 2-Tropical Storm

Approximate Age Range: 8-11

Practices offered per week: 4

Monthly Dues: $75.00

Duration: 1 hr

Practice Time: MWF 4:00-5:00 OR 6:00- 7:00 and Sat 9:30-10:30am

Attendance recommendation: 2-4

Swim meets: All home meet recommended

Equipment: Kickboard, pull buoy, fins (required), mesh bag (optional)

Group description: Swimmers entering the Tropical Storm group must have a basic understanding of all four strokes and be legal in two of the four strokes. Swimmers should be able to swim a 50 freestyle and 50 backstroke continuously.  They must be able to follow sets and listen to instruction. The goal of Tropical Storm is to improve technique in all four strokes, as well as starts and turns. Tropical Storm swimmers will begin to gain a more in-depth knowledge of USA Swimming rules.

 

Pre-senior-Tornado

Approximate Age Range: 11-15

Practices offered per week: 6

Monthly Dues: $90.00

Duration: 90 mins

Practice Time: M-F 5:00-6:30 and Sat 8:30-10:00am

Attendance recommendation: 4-6

Swim meets: Home meets required, away meets recommended

Equipment: Kickboard, pull buoy, fins, paddles, snorkel, & mesh bag

Group description: Swimmers entering the Tornado group must be able to swim all four strokes, flip turn, open turn, and dive legally. Swimmers must demonstrate endurance to successfully complete 90 mins of practice. They must be able to follow instruction, read a pace clock and demonstrate a knowledge of USA Swimming rules. The Tornado group begins to have an increase emphasis on competitive swimming, race strategy, and goal setting. The goal of the Tornado group is to refine stoke technique and increase endurance to become a more efficient competitive swimmer.

 

Senior-Tsunami

Approximate Age Range: 14-18

Practices offered per week: 6

Monthly Dues: $110.00

Duration: 90 mins- 2 hrs

Practice Time: MWF 5:00-6:30, TTH 5:00-7:00 and Sat 7:30-9:30am

Attendance recommendation: 5-6

Swim meets: Home meets required, full away meets schedule recommended

Equipment: Kickboard, pull buoy, fins, paddles, snorkel, & mesh bag

Group description: Swimmers entering the Tsunami group must demonstrate advance technique of all four strokes, flip turn, open turn, and start. Swimmers must have aerobic endurance to successfully complete 2 hours of practice. The Tsunami group offers advanced level training to swimmers who aspire to local, regional, or national level competition and preparation for potential participation in collegiate swimming. The goal of the Tsunami group is to develop other components of training such as dryland and nutrition, as well as have athletes realize their full potential.
