Swim Meets 101

📆 Where to Find the Meet Schedule

Opting In/Out of Meets

  • As a meet approaches, you’ll be asked to opt-in or opt-out.
  • Log in to the club website or SportsEngine app and go to the "Event" section to indicate your swimmer’s attendance.

🏊‍♀️ How to Know What Events Your Child is Swimming

  • Coaches will determine the events your child will swim.
  • After selections are made, go to the "Meets" tab and select "Meet Entries" to view your swimmer’s events and strokes.

🎒 What to Bring to a Swim Meet

  • Piranhas team swimsuit
  • Team swim cap
  • Goggles (2 in case one breaks)
  • Towels
  • Sharpie marker
  • Water bottle and healthy snacks
  • Cash for heat sheet and concessions

📝 What to Do When You Get to the Meet

  1. Check-In:
    • Have your child see their coach (usually through the locker room).
    • Meets require positive check-in upon arrival. This helps organize lanes and streamline the meet.
  2. Optional Get the Program/Heat Sheets:
    • Purchase these to see event details. Use a highlighter to mark your swimmer’s events.
  3. Optional Mark Events:
    • Many swimmers use a Sharpie to write a grid on their arm:
      • Event # / Heat / Lane / Stroke to ensure they’re in the right place at the right time.
  4. Spectator Setup:
    • Set up in designated areas outside the pool if you are sitting outside the pool area.
    • Some of the pools do not have a ton of seating and may require you to only enter the pool area during your swimmer’s events to ensure space for all families.
  5. Team Spirit:
    • Swimmers should remain on deck between events to cheer on their teammates.
