A Sad Loss for Our Community

Anne Williams

Our swimming family lost a beloved member this week.  Grace Keen departed the good earth this past Thursday and now rests with the eternal where her roots have always been deeply planted.

Grace was a swimmer for KNIK Swim Team and Chugiak Aquatics from the age of seven. She was a standout performer who regularly made the A-Final in statwide championship meets.  Grace served as a Junior Coach and team leader.  She was attending Southern Baptise University studying Physical Therapy.

Grace was named fittingly for she moved through life sharing her abundant joy and serving those around her with compassion and quiet assurance.  She was uniquely talented in a variety of disciplines, yet refreshingly down to earth and approachable.   Her faith was her guiding light and she shared this light with humor and accepting openness.  Her accomplishments were many and included high academic honors, state level competitiveness in swimming, service to the swimming community as an instructor and coach, service to youth as a piano teacher, and service to her church as a musician and youth leader.

Grace touched all of our lives and we know that you will join her coaches in offering prayers and best wishes to her family, James, Mary, Josiah, Micah and Anna.  Peace be with you, Grace.  Thank you for sharing your light with all of us.
