Weekly News and Practice Information - Week of 04/23/2023
Congratulations: Our Alaska Swimming State Championship (JOs) team brought home the gold this past weekend outdistancing the second place team by 1200 points. There were many outstanding performances but the win comes down to depth in all of the age groups and the commitment of each athlete to bring their best. We are very proud of all of our athletes! Here are just a few of the many notables:
Jasmine Anderson Achieved two Junior Nationals Qualifying times (100 breast and 200 breast)
West Mank set a state record for 15-16 boys in the 100 back

Of course, it is fun to win but the process, the experience, and the growth are exponentially more important. Our swimmers demonstrated toughness, sportsmanship and personal growth on many levels and their coaches couldn’t be prouder.

Practice This Week: Platinum is on hiatus this week. All other practices are at their usual time except for Gold at Bartlett which will be from 4:30-6:00 PM.
Upcoming Breaks:
- May 15th is HS graduation for both CHS and ERHS. We will be taking this day off so that coaches can attend the graduations
- Lessons will have an hiatus from May 22nd until our summer program begins on June 5th
- Stroke School-Gold will be on hiatus from May 26th Until our summer program begins on June 5th.

Team Awards: May 6th (10-12AM): Info is available at the team events sign-up page at our site or in OnDeck. Please RSVP by signing up if you plan to attend this event.
Shorebird Invite: May 12th and 28th in Homer, AK. 7 signed up: This is a great all—comers meet for those who love the vibe in Homer. It also coincides with the shorebird festival so bird watchers may enjoy this opportunity.
Midnight Sun Invite: June 9th and 10th in Fairbanks, AK. 4 signed up: Unlike in winter, the weather in Fairbanks is quite temperate to hot during the summer. This meet is usually swum in short course meters. Stay tuned for information as it becomes available.
