Coach Mitch is a passionate and accomplished coach with over 13 years of experience guiding athletes at all levels—from age group swimmers to collegiate competitors.

Coach Mitch began his coaching career in western Pennsylvania, starting while pursuing his undergrad. He helped build the Zelienople Area Swim Club into a feeder for Seneca Valley. Then going on to serve as an Assistant Swim Coach at Mars Area High School, Riverside Swim Club (now known as Three Rivers Swimming), and North Catholic High School. He also held a leadership role at the Rose E. Schneider YMCA, where he served as Age Group Lead Coach and, for a period, Aquatics Director. Helping the program off the ground back in 2016.

During these high school and club coaching tenures, Mitchell helped develop three individual WPIAL Champions—one at Mars and two at North Catholic. In 2019, he was selected to the Allegheny Mountain Swimming (AMS) Summer Zones Coaching Staff, a testament to his excellence in youth development.

His own athletic journey began at Seneca Valley High School and continued at Notre Dame College, where he was named Most Improved Swimmer during his sophomore season and still ranks 4th all-time in the 200-freestyle relay.

Over the last four seasons at Manchester University, Coach Mitch has helped guide the swim program to 56 school records and over 100 new Top 10 All-Time swims. His contributions were instrumental in his Head Coach earning the Men’s Coach of the Year award this past year, and both the Men’s and Women’s teams have earned multiple consecutive CSCAA Scholar All-American honors under his leadership. This past year according to swimcloud.com his men were the 9th most improved Division III team in the country and almost sneaking into the top-100 programs.

In addition to collegiate coaching, Mitchell has worked as a coach and counselor at top-tier swim camps hosted by the University of Michigan, Hillsdale College, Carnegie Mellon, and Manchester University. His professional background also includes experience as a Marketing Director and Head of Production, offering a strategic and creative leadership style that supports long-term athlete and program development.

SALLY HATHAWAY

Coach Sally began swimming at the age of 8, starting in Coach Jane’s 8 & under group. Sally continued to swim for 10 years qualifying for WPIALs all four years, and PIAAs her junior year. Despite planning to swim in college, COVID-19 changed her plans, ending her swimming career with high school graduation.

Sally attended Michigan State University for four years where she graduated with a degree in Game Development (Games and Interactive Media). During her time at MSU she found a love for skateboarding and created a woman’s skateboarding club that continues to operate today.

Both swimming and skateboarding have taught her that commitment, confidence, and fun are crucial pieces to the puzzle of success! As a coach, Sally believes that all athletes deserve to have the opportunity to become the best version of themselves that they can be, both inside of the pool and out!
