Lucas Marsak Head Coach

Lucas returned to the helm of the FAST swim program in 2021 after nearly 2 decades as FAST head coach.

During his tenure, he has developed and coached multiple Senior and Junior National Qualifiers, Super Sectional and Sectional Qualifiers and finalists, Eastern Zone Qualifiers and Record Holders, WPIAL Champions and Record Holders, PIAA Qualifiers and Finalists, an AMS Swimmer of the Year, and Multiple swimmers to be ranked top 50 in the country in their age group. In addition, more than 60 all-time FAST records have been broken under his watch.

An American Swimming Coaches Association-certified coach, Lucas has also served as an assistant coach for the Franklin Regional High School swim team, has coached in the ESA for Garden City and Murrysville Swim Club, and has been an instructor at local swim camps.

Lucas is a graduate from Denison University with a double major in Educational Studies and Communication. For two years at Denison, he swam and was a conference finalist and a NCAA National Qualifier.

As a youth athlete, Lucas was competitive in football, soccer, basketball, baseball, track and field, cross country, and swimming. In high school, he decided to make swimming his primary focus.  As a high school swimmer, he qualified for Eastern Zones and Junior Nationals. He also competed for Gateway High School where he was a WPIAL Champion, a state finalist, and school record holder.

In college, after having surgery on both legs, he began his career as an endurance athlete by competing in his first sprint triathlon and first marathon in 2001.

In the past 15 years, Lucas has competed in over 100 running races and triathlons: 2 Ironman Triathlons (including the Ironman World Championships in Hawaii), The 70.3 Triathlon World Championships, 10 marathons (including Boston), and 7 Ultra-Marathons of running races of up to 100 miles (including the Leadville 100 in Colorado).

Lucas brings an enthusiasm for the sport which is shared with his swimmers. He looks forward to fostering an enjoyment of training and competition and an environment that nurtures and inspires a collective excellence and love to compete.

Todd Sterlitz Assistant Coach

Todd was an All-American swimmer at Allegheny College and has been coaching on and off for about 30 years since then.  This is his second year at FAST, previously he had been at the Valley Points Family YMCA for 8 years, where he was the head coach.  

Todd works with all age groups and is proud that many of his swimmers have progressed from novice swimming to college swimming and beyond.  He believes that swimming is a lifetime sport and that the technical skills and social interactions achieved through swimming lead to very successful kids in and out of the pool.  His favorite stroke to teach is butterfly and he was a distance swimmer in high school and college.  He has coached at multiple District, State and National YMCA meets as well as several Eastern Zone meets as an AMS coach.  

Todd and his wife Sandy own Pugliese Flowers in Vandergrift and Sandy is an owner of Rehabilitation Innovations in Murrysville.  Both of their kids, Parker and Amara, swim on the team and love the sport.  They have two cats, Flipturn and Laneline.

Dina Hunsinger Assistant Coach

Dina grew up in Murrysville, attending Franklin Regional.  She swam for FAST and Meadowink from age 5-18. She swam for the Franklin Regional High school team where she was WPIAL and PIAA qualifier all four years.

Dina went to IUP and earned a degree in Speech Language Pathology. She swam at IUP from 95’-99’, where she earned 5x All American honors, was named team co-captain her senior year and focused on 400 IM, 200 Breaststroke, and 800 Freestyle Relay and distance Freestyle.

Dina has coached at Meadowink, FAST, Mechanicsburg Swim Team, Plum Aqua, Monroeville Marlins, and is currently the Head Coach of the swim team at Armstrong High School. She is also employed with the Armstrong School District as a Speech Therapist. 

Dina is married and the mother to 3 swimmers Delaney, Reese, and Sadie. She enjoys Crossfit, coaching, spending time with her family, the beach, and anything outdoors.

Jodi Horvath Assistant Coach

Jodi brings more than 30 years of coaching experience to FAST.  She grew up in Murrysville and swam for FAST from 1974 to 1982. As a member of FAST, she qualified for Junior and Senior Nationals.  She was a Junior National Champion in the 50 free and the 100 fly.  She held the Junior National record in the 100 fly for 11 years.  She was ranked 9th in the world in 50 free and 8th in 100 fly in 1982. She was a 3-time Pennsylvania High School State Champion and multiple-time High School All-American.

Jodi received a full swimming scholarship to the University of Texas where she was a member of four Division I National Championship teams.  During her collegiate career, Jodi was named a Division I All-American 22 times.  She was selected for the 1983 U.S. National Team that competed in Sweden, Germany, and Denmark. Jodi competed in the 1984 Olympic Trials in the 100 and 200 butterfly and the 50 and 100 freestyle.  She was also selected to the U.S. National Team that competed at the 1987 World University Games in Zagreb, Yugoslavia where she won a gold and bronze medal.

In 2011, Jodi was inducted into the Pennsylvania Sports Hall of Fame – East Boro Chapter.  The daughter of club founder Ed Eyles, Jodi still holds several FAST and Franklin Regional High School swimming records.

Mark Spinola Assistant Coach

In addition to coaching with FAST, Mark is an assistant coach with the Franklin Regional Varsity Swim Team and the Franklin Regional Middle School Swim Team. He previously served as the assistant coach with the Gateway High School Varsity Swim Team. Mark is also the Head Coach of the Murrysville Swim Club Swim Team. 

Mark teaches Economics and Advanced Placement United States Government at Gateway High School. He has a master’s degree in counseling and a teaching certificate from Duquesne University and a bachelor’s degree in History and Psychology from The University of Pittsburgh.

A resident of Murrysville, Mark is married to Stacey Spinola, and together they have 5 children. Mark’s children train with FAST as well.
