Midnight Sun Swim Team is always accepting new swimmers onto the team and joining is easy. Swimmers will have to have had some swimming lessons ecpereince in order to join. Your swimmer will need to be able to swim one length of the pool Freestyle and one length of the pool back backstroke in order to be able to join the team. Our coaches will take it from there and refine their skill and show them how much fun the sport of swimming is.
We offer monthly group tryouts that require families to preregister prior to showing up. Please complete the registration prior to arriving for your tryout.

Team tryouts are open to all new and potential swimmers who are interested in joining the team.
During your tryout your swimmer will work one on one with our coaches and we will evaluate their swimming ability so we can place them into the best group for them. The evaluations usually take no more than 5 or 10 miutes with the swimmer in the water and we will ask them to show us freestyle and backstroke. Depending on how those two strokes look we may ask them to show us additional strokes too. Coaches will use this evaluation to determine which group is best to start. Midnight Sun Swim Team has several different groups at different times to accomodate all swimmers on the team and their indivdual ability.
Our minimum standard for swimmers to join is that they can swim the length of the pool without having to use the bottom or the sides. Swimmers' safety is our highest priority so some swimmers may be suggested to do another round of swimming lessons if they cannot quite make the length of the pool. During practice coaches are not in the water with the swimmers and they are in a group with other swimmers so making sure they are safe and can swim on their own is important.
Once you get to Hamme Pool please bring/wear your swimsuit, goggles, and a cap if desired. We will meet you in the stands. Locker rooms will be available. Depending on the number of registrations, there may be a wait as coaches can only evaluate one swimmer at a time. We will get through all tryouts as efficiently as possible.
