Facility Rules

As guests at the University of Arizona's Hillenbrand Aquatic Center, all swimmers and families are expected to help maintain a respectful, clean, and professional environment. Please review and follow the rules below to ensure our continued access to this world-class facility. The facility will be open 15 minutes before the start of practice.

1. Clean Up After Practice

All athletes are responsible for cleaning up their area after practice. This includes collecting all gear and personal belongings from the pool deck. Items left behind may be placed in the facility's lost and found, but this is not guaranteed. Let’s take pride in leaving the facility better than we found it.

2. Parent Access & Lobby Expectations

Parents are welcome to observe practices from the stadium stands, but are not permitted on the pool deck or in the lobby unless walking directly to the stands. The lobby is a shared space used by Arizona Athletics staff, visiting recruits, and donors. This space must be maintained as a quiet, professional environment. 

3. Locker Room Use

Swimmers must clean up after themselves in the locker rooms.

• Locker use is prohibited for the age group and senior athletes.
• Any gear left inside or on top of lockers will be removed and discarded.
• The locker room must remain clean, orderly, and professional at all times.

4. Water Bottle Policy

Disposable water bottles are not allowed during practice unless needed in an emergency. Please bring a reusable bottle. If a disposable bottle is used, place it in the recycling bins located on the south deck.

5. Pool Access & Deck Entry

• The pool deck will open 15 minutes before practice begins.
• Do not attempt to enter early, pull on locked doors, or access the facility without permission.
• Swimmers may not enter the deck until a Ford coach is present.
• Swimmers may not access the deck if University of Arizona athletes are using the space, unless directed by a Ford coach.

Please respect facility schedules and staff. Wait times are intentional and ensure safety and proper supervision.

6. Leaving the Facility After Practice

All athletes must be picked up within 15 minutes of the end of their scheduled practice. This applies to all groups, including Masters. Per our fee structure, you will be charged $50 for every 10 minutes you are late after the 15-minute mark. If late pick-up becomes a recurring issue, the coaching staff will follow up directly with the family.

7. Behavior in the Stands

The facility stands are not a play area. Running, roughhousing, or playing in the stands before or after practice is not allowed. This poses a serious liability risk for both the team and the facility. Athletes may use the grassy area north of the pool if supervised.

8. Restricted Areas

The following areas are off limits at all times:

• Diving boards
• Diving Dryland Area
• Hot tub

These areas are reserved exclusively for University of Arizona student-athletes.

Drop off/Pick Up

1. Parents may use the facility parking lot for pick-up and drop-off. Drive slowly and drive around in a counter-clockwise direction to maintain the proper flow of traffic (see graphic below)
2. The parking lot is permit only from 7AM-5PM, and you will be ticketed if parked during those hours.
3. There are parking meters available in the vicinity using the Passport app.
