SWIM TEAM

There are a few things every swimmer needs for practice to ensure a safe and enjoyable time in the water:

  • Swim Suit: A team suit is not required, but can be purchased through our team store.  Our colors are green and black, if you decide to get a suit elsewhere and want to match. Girls should wear a one piece suit made for lap swimming, that has a snug fit at the top. Recration swim suits that fit loose, can be unconfortable during vigorous excercise. Boys should wear jammers or speedo style suits. Trunk style suits are not comfortable during vigorous excercise and can make it harder to do turns.

  • Goggles: There are no requirements for the type of goggles our swimmers use, but all swimmers should have reliable pair of goggles for practice. It sometimes takes a little trial and error when finding the right style for your child's face. I would recommend putting a name on the strap. We do end up with some random goggles left behind at practice form time to time. There will be some links to goggles in the team store.
  • Swim Cap:  Swim caps are not required but are recommended. Swim caps help to reduce swimmer distraction by keeping hair out of the swimmer's face, especially long hair, and adds some protection to hair.  The caps also reduce drag and can help the swimmer's speed.  If a team swim cap is desired, they can be purchased through the team's merchandise order form on the team store tab.

  • Fins: We will use swim fins every day, at all levels during practice. A basic, one peice design is the best option. Short fins, or stiff scuba style fins aren't very handy for the drills we do. There will be some options for fins in the team store as well.

  • Water Bottle: The water does feel nice, but the air temperature is still around 100 during the summer practices. Swimmers lose a lot of water during workouts, so don't forget to send a water bottle to practice.
