YUMA HEAT DISCIPLINARY ACTION
Although we do not expect to have to utilize the following steps, as a Board we communicate them to you for your awareness and knowledge. We also share them with you so that you can review them with your child(ren). Squad coaches are responsible for implementing the activities/sets/workouts assigned to their groups. If a swimmer’s actions are contrary to good-order or disruptive to another swimmer, the
coach, or the squad as a whole, the swimmer will be held accountable in accordance with the following disciplinary steps:
First Warning (verbal):
○ Swimmer will be responsible for notifying the parent/guardian about the incident unless the nature of the action warrants that the coach notifies the parents/guardians.
Second Warning (verbal and written):
○ Head Coach will be notified and the swimmer will be asked to leave the pool.
○ Swimmer must call a parent/guardian to pick them up from practice early and must wait in the Aquarium Room for the parent/guardian.
○ Incident will be documented in writing via email to the parent/guardian.
Third Warning (verbal, written, and suspension):
○ The Head Coach will be notified and the swimmer will receive a two-day suspension from practice.
○ Incident will be documented in writing via email to the parent/guardian.
○ The Head Coach will notify the Board of Directors.
○ Swimmer may not return to practice until the swimmer and the parent/guardian meet with the Head Coach and at least one member of the Board of Directors.
Final Warning (verbal, written, Board Review):
○ If the previous 3 interventions are unsuccessful and another infraction occurs during practice time or at a swim meet, a formal review of the infraction will take place with the Head Coach and at least two representatives from the Board of Directors.
○ Incident will be documented in writing via email to the parent/guardian along with an invitation to a meeting.
○ At that meeting, these individuals (Head Coach and at least two representatives from the Board of Directors) have the authority to remove the swimmer from the team permanently.
○ There will be no refund of previous dues paid. Any outstanding dues/obligations to the club are the responsibility of the swimmer’s parent/guardian.
