Our Coaching Staff
Tyler Fox Head Coach & Scottsdale Head Site Coach

Coach Tyler has been with Life Time Arizona Swim Team in Scottsdale since 2014.

Coach Tyler believes training should be fun, challenging, and goal-oriented to be successful. He also believes no one achieves greatness on their own and communicates an “all in for each other” approach with his training groups. He utilizes a series of race pace test sets, combined with short and long term goal setting, to help athletes understand how practice performance prepares them for meet performance. He enjoys using media as a way of teaching technique and challenging his athletes to think outside of the box. His emphasis on developing all aspects of technique, utilizing race pace training, and developing a mindset for success has led to many great achievements for his athletes in and out of the pool.  He believes a person’s character, not their talent, is the greatest determiner of their success, and strives to help his athletes embrace the types of changes that produce winning character.

Prior to coaching with Life Time, Coach Tyler was the Senior Group Coach @ Scottsdale Aquatic Club (2009-20014), Head Site Coach for Swim Neptune @ DC Ranch (2006-2009), and an Assistant Coach for Pinnacle High School (2008-2009) and Horizon High School (2001-2003, 2006-2007).  He was Head Coach of Scottsdale Christian Academy Swimming from 2011-2019. His career as a swimmer with Scottsdale Aquatic Club (1993-2000) and Horizon High School (Class of 2001) gave him an excellent foothold in the sport.

After being home-schooled from birth through high school, Coach Tyler’s wide range of interests led him to achieve a degree in Interdisciplinary Studies from Arizona State University. This allowed him to study in depth in the areas of Music, Religious Studies, Cybersecurity and Political Science. In 2019, Tyler received a Masters in Liberal Studies from ASU. In December of 2023, Tyler completed a Masters in Global Security with an emphasis in Cybersecurity.

Joseph North Head Site Coach - Palm Valley
Angelo Martins Assistant Coach - Gilbert

Coach Angelo started his swim career at the Greenwich Boys and Girls Club in Greenwich, CT. He loved the challenging workouts, team camaraderie, and travel meets, but he learned early that his true passion was with the coaching aspect of swimming. Coach Angelo would often arrive early to assist with younger groups, and it wasn't long before he was coaching on his own.  Angelo has been coaching in Arizona for more than 20 years and has had the privilege to work so many remarkable swimmers and families. He has experience working with the novice swimmer, State Champion & Record Holders, Sectional swimmers, and several swimmers who have gone on to compete at Olympic Trials.  Angelo's coaching philosophy embraces the whole swimmer. He believes that practices should be fun, focus on goals, and provide opportunities for swimmers to push out of their comfort zone. He believes swimmers should be engaged as a team, but that it is important to make time for individual attention at every practice. Angelo often talks to his swimmers about goals, nutrition, and their loves outside of swimming. Most importantly, Angelo encourages the family to stay connected, highly encourages parent involvement, and welcomes questions from parents.  Away from the pool, Coach Angelo is a 4th grade teacher in Gilbert. He is married and has five children/stepchildren. He enjoys camping, hiking, listening to music, and hopes to publish a book someday.

Debra Dauderman Assistant Coach - Scottsdale

Being a California native, her life, from a very young age, has always revolved around the water; whether swimming in a pool, teaching lessons, lifeguarding or just hitting the waves at the beach for the day. She was introduced to swim lessons at a very young age and was on her first competitive team at age 6. She spent her childhood participating on a neighborhood recreational team as well as competing on her high school team. Her love for the water did not end with just competing; she spent her high school and college years as a swim instructor and lifeguard.

After high school, she moved to Germany for 3 years where she traveled and studied at University of Maryland while earning my Associates of Arts Degree. Debra worked as the assistant Sports Manager for her university and had the opportunity to spend time with a multitude of athletes. As her learning and experiences continued to grow in the field of sports, she moved back to the states. She completed her college studies at University of Oregon where she earned her Bachelors of Science in Exercise and Movement Science. Debra's degree helped her to understand more about the human body and how it relates to sports, including swimming. Now, in her adulthood, being able to come back to aquatics with the knowledge that she has gained over the years and coach these amazing swimmers has been extremely rewarding. She believes that each and every swimmer has their own unique set of talents in the pool. She finds it to be her priviledge and challenge to tap into those talents so all of our athletes shine.

Erin Oliphant Assistant Coach - Scottsdale

Erin started competitive swimming when she was 6 years old and immediately fell in love with the sport.  In high school, Erin had the opportunity to compete in Pro Swim Series, Winter Nationals, and Summer Junior National swim meets.  She went on to swim DI at University of the Pacific in Stockton, CA where she majored in Health, Exercise, and Sport Sciences with a concentration in Sports Management.  She graduated UOP magna cum laude and as the Sports Management Student of the Year.  Erin spent four years back home in Illinois teaching swim lessons and coaching her club team.  She believes that swimming is a fun, yet challenging sport that has the ability to teach athletes self-discipline, time management, and hard work.

Erin is currently a graduate student at Arizona State University in the Master of Sports Law and Business program through the Sandra Day O’Connor College of Law.  In her free time, Erin enjoys hiking and training for triathlons.

Hayden Jacobs Assistant Coach - Tempe

Hayden started swimming at 14 years old and quickly fell in love with the sport. He Swam at Life Time Palm Valley and competed as the team captain for Verrado High School 2020 AIA State Champion Team. Hayden found coaching a great opportunity and joined LifeTime in 2019.
