Anchie Xu

Head Coach

Anchie was a former member of the National Swim Team and Zhejiang Provincial Team of China. During her swimming career, she won several national championships and achieved excellent results in international competitions. FINA ranked her as one of the top 50 swimmers from 1997 to 1999.

Anchie has been coaching since 2000 and has experience in both China and the United States. After six years of working with Gators, Anchie has started to take the head coach role to lead the Elite group. She has a passion for leading athletes to pursue their athletic success. She believes that the abilities the athletes have learned and the characters have built through the training will be beneficial throughout the athletes’ whole life.

Anchie has Bachelor's Degree in Law from the Sun Yat-Sen University in China. She is fully certified as an Age Group Coach (NCCP Level 2) and NCCP Level 3 trained. She is also certified as a National Lifeguard and Water Safety Instructor.

Anchie is the lead coach for the Elite A/B group.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Daniel Camacho

Coach

Daniel was a swimmer for 20 years and was able to race in national level competitions.

This is his third season as part of Gators, but has been a coach for 8 years. He is fully certified as an Age Group Coach NCCP Level 2. His coaching journey began in Mexico and had continued in Australia and now in Canada.

Daniel coaches our Senior and Junior Gator’s groups.

He loves to be related to swimming as he loves the sport but he also has a deep experience in the financial field. Some of his hobbies are related to play sports, such as basketball, baseball, squash, soccer or any fun activity.

Fun fact: Daniel's first record for an age group was when he was so scared to swim in a 50-meter pool but he swam very fast.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Karman Wong

Assistant Coach

Karman was a swimmer with Gators for 7 years and this is her 3rd year coaching.

She will be working with Gold and Silver this season.

Some of her favourite hobby's and activities would be swimming, ultimate, badminton, crocheting, painting, and sculpting. Karman is currently studying Visual Arts at the Emily Carr University of Arts and Design

Fun fact: Karman's favourite stroke throughout her swimming career was always backstroke!

 

Hope Luo

Assistant Coach

Hope has been swimming at the provincial level for eight years. Over countless competitions, she medalled in several butterfly events and continued to push her abilities as a competitive swimmer with vigorous training to chase further standards.

She began coaching in 2020 and has continued ever since due to her strong passion for the sport and her goal of supporting fellow athletes.

She is certified in National Lifeguard, Life Saving Swim Instructor and NCCP Coaching level 1.

Hope is currently studying science at the University of British Columbia, where she continues to swim during her free time.

Hope will be coaching the Youth A group, as well as assisting Juniors A and B.

 

Helen Shen

Assistant Coach

Helen has been swimming competitively in Gators for 7 years. Throughout her experience competing in various swim meets, her favourite stroke has always been breaststroke!
 
Outside the pool, some of her hobbies include hiking, volunteering, folding origami, and baking.
 
This season, Helen is coaching groups Youth B, Alligator, and Gecko A and B.
She is very excited to share her love for the sport and help all her swimmers develop their skills. 

 

Kaylee Hoang

Assistant Coach

Kaylee has been a swimmer in Gators for 9 years and will be coaching Crocodile A and B, and Salamander A and B this season. Her favourite activities outside of swimming include biking, reading, exercising and travelling around the world.  

Throughout all her years of competitive swimming, backstroke has always been her favourite stroke. Kaylee is now looking forward to teaching her swimmers all the skills she has learned through her experiences in the club, and to help her swimmers reach their goals while having fun!

Xiaoping Lu

Xiaoping began his coaching career in 1978 as the professional coach of the Chinese Navy Swimming Team and the Liberation Army Swimming Team (top team in China). He subsequently became the director of the Chinese Navy Swimming Team, a position which he held for 5 years. During his time as coach of the Chinese Navy Swimming Team, several of his athletes broke national record and his team held the top fourth spot in China.

Xiaoping graduated from the Shanghai Physical and Culture University in China majoring in swim coaching.

Xiaoping has been coaching the Gators Swim Club since 1997. Under his tutelage his swimmers have received provincial and national recognition. In July of 2003 one of his swimmers received three silver medals in the Club Nationals in Calgary. During 2004 to 2009 season, Xiaoping's swimmers got several gold, silver and bronze medals in national and international meet. Xiaoping is also selected to coach BC Team to attend 2005 Canada Games and the 2008 BC vs. Alberta dual meet.

In 2006 season, Xiaoping was selected as head coach of BC team to attend Paul Bergen Junior International and his swimmers got two gold medals and two fourth. Further more, as coach of Canadian Junior National Australia Tour Team, Xiaoping attend Victoria State Championships Open and his group got several gold, silver and bronze medals and broke girls 5X 50 free relay Victoria State record.

Xiaoping also received Canadian Swimming Coaches & Teachers Association 2006 and 2008 Speedo Domestic Excellence Award. Xiaoping was NCCP level 3 certified coach in 2001 and finished some of NCCP level 4 course in 2002. Currently, Xiaoping is Senior Coach Certified of Canada.
