2023 Winter Divisional Championship recap (revised)

On March 17 to 19, Twenty-Six swimmers from Elite A/B, Senior and Age represented Gators attended the 2023 Winter Divisional Championship Fraser&Vancouver division with 13 swim teams total of 348 swimmers. This meet was the peak performance meet for the first training cycle. With the preliminaries and finals meet format, some swimmers had more than 6 races each day. Our athletes showed untiring perseverance and relentless energy. We achieved 3 gold medals, 3 silver medals and 9 bronze medals. Our girls' athletes ranked 4th with 552 points, and boys ranked 7th with 316 points.

Highlights at the meet:

Our relay teams displayed excellent team spirit and brought excitement to the whole team. 13-14 boys won the gold medal in 4x50 free relay, and girls won the silver medal on the first day; 13-14 girls won the gold medal in 4x50 medley relay, while boys got the 4th place in the medley relay on the second day.

Jobia Plata broke the 13-year-old girl's 50 breast club record with a time of 35.69, and 100 breast club records with a time of 1:17.75. Both former club records were held by our coach Agatha Leung since 2016 and 2017.

Helen Shen, Ysabelle Guzman and Jobia Plata, all breaststrokers, stepped their feet in the Western equivalent short course times. We cannot wait to see their results at long course meets.
