2024 Winter Provincial Champs recap
By Coach Anchie,
From March 7-10, our club proudly sent thirteen exceptional athletes to compete in the Swim BC Winter Provincial Championships, a gathering that brought together 620 participants from 38 swim teams. Among our participants were some first-timers at the Provincial Champs, and the event proved to be a remarkable and enriching racing experience for them.
Let's shine a spotlight on some of the standout moments from the meet:
- On the first day, Jaden Leung ascended the podium, securing a well-deserved bronze medal. He pushed his personal best time of 50 Free to 25.76 and established a new long-course club record for 13-14 boys.
- On day two, Sephora dropped 1.21 seconds off her 50 fly and achieved the Swimming Canada Westerns standard of this event at prelim. She got a second swim in the swim-off to race the other two girls for the finals. She fought hard and got her best time by breaking 30 seconds in 50 fly.
- On day four, we celebrated several long course best times, with Ryan Man making a splash by reaching the final of the 50 Breast and securing 6th place.
