2024 Summer Divisional recap

Chiem and Landing Leisure Center at Chilliwack, was the place where Vancouver and Fraser division swim teams met for the summer divisional. Around 300 swimmers from 12 teams made the pool roar of excitement and Gators were able to come up with good results.
Friday prelims arrived and the athletes were ready to perform. Gator Swimmers were able to secure 13 spots in the finals for the first day while qualifying provincial standards during the first session. Finals began and our swimmers make things look easy. They collected 5 medals ( 1 gold, 1 silver, 3 bronze) and additional provincial standards. Sephora Lee, Jaden Leung, and Freddy Ding accomplished the provincial/medal combo. Sophie Chan (provincial standard) and Uma Sukkau (third place) were great during the 200 FL finals. While Jonathan Wang had a great debut in divisional finals obtaining third place in the 50 BR.
The second day of racing was no different. During prelims fourteen spots were secured in the finals on 200 FR, 50 FL, 100 BR, 50 FR & 200 BK. Jayden Chung and Jaden Leung were the ones who also achieved provincial standards in the morning session.
With multiple finalists, on Saturday evening, records and awards were obtained. Jaden Leung open the night with a gold and club record (1:58.46) in the 200 FR. The 100 BR gave Jaden L., his second award of the night. Later on the nigh Jayden Chung obtained third place in 50 FR. Uma Sukkau was also third place in the 200 BK while improving her morning time.
With the last day of racing, swimmers kept the momentum and put themselves within the top swimmers on different events once again. During Sunday prelims, eleven final spots were secured by our club’s athletes.
Sunday finals gave gators two more golds and a silver to complete the twelve medal participation for gators. Jaden L. and Uma S., grabbed gold in the 1500; while Freddy D., took second in the 100 FR.
The swim team is preparing for the provincial swim meet in ten days where we look forward to have positive results.
