HEAD COACH TRACY MAURER
Tracy made a great decision to come to California from Michigan in 2012 as Head Age Group Coach at GWSC. He has 38 years of experience in coaching, starting at the age of 18 with the Grand Rapids Gators Age Group program and the Raider Swim Camp at Grand Rapids Junior College.
A graduate of Central Michigan University, with Bachelor of Science in Psychology and Business Education, he coached for East Kentwood High School Girl’s Swimming and Diving and Assistant to Boy’s Swimming and Diving, achieving three Girl’s Conference Championships and four Boy’s Conference Championships. The following seven years (1986-1993), he was the Head Coach for Grand Rapids Junior College, which finished a top five contender during his tenure, three of those years as second in the nation at the National Junior College Championships and also voted NJCAA Coach of the Year three times with ten individual NJCAA titles. He was also elected to three years as the President of the NJCAA Coaches Association. From 1993-2003, Tracy was a parent volunteer coach with the Hammerhead Swim Club in Harbor Springs, Michigan. He became an Assistant Coach in 2004 and then was hired as the Head Coach in 2005-2012.
Enhancing the sport of swimming continues to be his focus and passion. The opportunity to inspire youth, and work with parents, comes with and from a solid relationship of trust in the philosophy of our program. “Being a father of six children (all are swimmers and some have also coached) has helped me develop an understanding of how children need to build character through the 4-D’s.”
“Dedication, Discipline, Desire, and Determination are the keys that I believe in, and will share with everyone each day they walk onto the pool deck.” Desire is an individual’s motivation to succeed, but it’s also the Determination and Discipline to an unrelenting pursuit of a goal – a commitment to excellence that takes Dedication. These four objectives will enable us to attain the success that we seek while swimming, and in life after swimming.

COACH AMELIA VOLLMAR
Born and raised in the Bay Area, Coach Amelia began her swimming career at the age of 5 with Orinda Park Pool's summer rec team. Her passion for the sport led her to swim year-round for Orinda Aquatics, where she also represented Campolindo High School during her formative years.
Her dedication paid off when she was recruited by Chapman University, where she competed for all four years. A highlight of her collegiate career was achieving a personal goal by reaching the finals in the 100-yard butterfly at the SCIAC Championships. That same year, both the men’s and women’s teams placed third overall. In the Spring of ’24 Coach Amelia graduated from Chapman with a Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology and is now planning to pursue a Master’s in Marriage and Family Therapy.
Amelia’s coaching career began in high school, where she returned to her roots at Orinda Park Pool. Over the span of six years, she coached swimmers ages 4 to 18, starting with learn-to-swim lessons and progressing to technique and endurance training. Swimming and coaching have always been integral to her life, and she’s excited to bring her passion and expertise to Goldenwest Swim Club, where she’s committed to helping young athletes grow and succeed in the water.
When she’s not coaching, you can find Coach Amelia enjoying Laguna Beach, trying out new restaurants, watching basketball, or spending time with friends.
