Canadian Dolphin Swim Club's

RainyDay Fund

Please help us through the COVID-19 pandemic and its aftermath!

The Vancouver Aquatic Centre closed in March, 2020 in response to the COVID-19 public health emergency, and swimming ceased. With no information as to when the closure would end, our coaches started daily dryland sessions with our competitive swimmers using a video-conferencing platform and plan to continue these sessions and add sessions for our younger swimmers until such time as we can return to the pool.

With Provincial, City, and Swim BC guidelines for the safe resumption of our sport in place, and when the pools reopen, we expect our training and programs to look very different from previous years: many fewer swimmers per lane, extended training hours to accommodate swimmers, more coaching hours to cover the extended training, fewer swimmers overall due to space/time/safety restrictions, as well as phased in training for groups, with some not returning until the province moves into Phase 4 (vaccine available) of its re-opening plan.  The “new normal” will affect the financial viability of the Club and/or result in higher per swimmer costs, which in turn will reduce the accessibility of our sport to a lot of our swimmers.

We are asking for help from members, alumni, and members of the public who are able to contribute, so that we can weather the “new normal”, and continue to provide our programs until life and competitive swimming look more like the “old normal” once again.

CDSC has partnered with the BC Amateur Sport Fund to raise funds to benefit CDSC’s RainyDay Fund (Project # P0428). The BC Amateur Sport Fund is the BC chapter of the Canadian Council of Provincial & Territorial Sport Federations, a Registered Canadian Amateur Athletics Association with charitable status, and you may receive a tax receipt for your donation. Your gift to the Fund benefitting this project will help us cover various club operating and training costs.

If you are able to make a donation, please visit our project set up with the BC Amateur Sport Fund here.

Thank you for your support.
