BC SUMMER PROVINCIAL CHAMPIONSHIPS RECAP
CDSC RANKED 2ND PLACE OVERALL – BEST PLACING IN OVER A DECADE!
The Canadian Dolphin Swim Club accomplished their best ever performance in over a decade in the recently concluded BC Provincial Championships which were from Thursday July 13th to Sunday July 16th at the UBC Aquatic Centre. The 36-strong team came in 2nd overall in the meet, only behind the recently merged team of LOSC. The Women’s team came in 2nd overall as well, and the men’s came in 9th.
There were multiple highlights of the meet. To begin with, the 13-14 Girls 4x50 Freestyle Relay Team comprised of Lauren Day, Lucy Liu, Danica Lambke, and Emma Liu broke the Provincial Record by 0.36s held by the Kelowna Aquajets from 2019 with a time of 1:50.11. They also set a new club record in the process.
Emma Liu (14 yrs) won the 13-14 yrs Aggregate Meet Award with 177 points, 26 points ahead of the 2nd place, a testament to Emma’s swimming versatility over multiple events. In the process, Emma won 8 GOLD medals in the 50, 100, 200, 400, 800 FR, 200 FL, 200 IM, 400 IM. Emma won 1 SILVER medal in the 100 FL. Emma also broke club records in the 100 FL, 100 FR, 200 IM, 400 IM.
Nathalie Day (16 yrs) won 1 GOLD in the 100 BR, 1 SILVER in the 50 BR, and 4 BRONZE in the 50 BK, 100 BK, 200 BR, and 50 FL. Nathalie broke her own 50 BK and 50 FL club records in the process.
Audrey Chow (12 yrs) won 1 GOLD in the 1500 FR, 2 SILVER in the 400 FR and 800 FR, and 2 BRONZE in the 200 FR and 200 BR. In the process, Audrey broke the 1500 FR club record.
Maria Saldana Riebleling (17 yrs) won 2 GOLD in the 400 FR and 1500 FR and 2 SILVER in the 200 FR and 800 FR.
Ivan Sun (15 yrs) won 1 GOLD in the 50 BR and 1 BRONZE in the 100 BR.
Cici Sun (15 yrs) won 1 SILVER in the 200 FL and 1 BRONZE in the 200 BK.
Abigail Skinder (16 yrs) won 1 SILVER in the 200 BK.
Lauren Day (14 yrs) won 1 SILVER in the 200 FR.
Lucy Liu (13 yrs) won 1 SILVER medal in the 50 BK.
Alvin Chan (16 yrs) won 2 BRONZE in the 100 FR and 100 BK.
Justin Guo (12 yrs) won 1 BRONZE in the 100 BK. In the process of swimming his 50 BK, he broke the club record as well.
Luna Cheung (14 yrs) won 1 BRONZE in the 200 BR and achieved a new 15 yo WESTERN cut in the event.
