Another great meet for Ellis!! He had 7 races and a relay this past weekend, swimming 100 breaststroke for the first time, 4 new personal best times breaking 2 club records, and being the first 7 year old to race 100 breaststroke. Ellis loves to race and was always ready to go when we talked about each race. Each meet brings new learning opportunities and Ellis took his in stride with an amazing outlook to move forward to his next race!! Great job Ellis!!

Quinn is so focused this year. Between her races and training, she has done an amazing job! Quinn seems to love to sneak up on several festival times quietly, and then pounce on all of them at the same meet, and she is on her way to doing so again this year! She set 2 club records this weekend in her 100 and 200 free. Great job Quinn!
Sophie Baht, 13

Sophie has been hard at work making sure she has four good strokes, and after her 200 IM and 50 back, she has accomplished that! With some great events this weekend and looking very strong in the pool, Sophie has also made her 14 and 15 year old Trials Times in her 100 Breast. Great work!
Aria Carr, 8

Aria had a great swim meet this weekend by getting all personal best times in her races. She also got out of her comfort zone, doing flip turns and breaststroke pullouts in her races. Aria has been doing amazing in practice and it was great to see her in action at a swim meet. Amazing Job Aria!!!
Axton Carr, 6
50 Back 1:06.24, 18th
Axton was feeling under the weather and was able to compete on Friday. He did well with not feeling the best and we missed him on the pool deck the rest of the meet. Glad you are feeling better Axton.
Quinn Davey, 11
100 Free 1:52.98 (PB), 14th; 50 Back 56.13 (PB), 17th; 100 Back 2:08.56 (PB), 13th; 50 Fly 1:19.14 (PB), 16th; 50 Free 46.90 (PB), 20th; 100 Breast 2:07.36 (PB), 18th; 50 Breast 58.33 (PB), 16th
This was Quinn’s first swim meet as a Waves Swimmer. Quinn swam last year in our Splash Swim School and also swam with the Medicine Hat Manta Rays Summer Club last summer. She moved into our competitive groups for the 1st time this year. She is working so hard in practice and you can see all that hard work pay off with her swims this weekend. She swam some big swims that she had never done before and she crushed it. Every swim was a personal best time!! Great work Quinn.
Connor Donnelly, 10
100 Free 1:55.61 (PB), 15th; 50 Back 51.55 (PB), 8th; 100 Back 1:50.29 (PB), 5th; 50 Free 49.68 (PB), 12th
What a great weekend in the pool for Connor. He had 100 % best times this weekend and crushed his 100 Free getting under the 2 min mark by dropping 9.06 seconds. Connor has been working hard in practice, working on all the little things and you can see that they are paying off. Connor also led off our 11&U Medley relay swimming backstroke and helped to a 3rd place finish!! Keep up the hard work Connor!!
Hadlee Dunbar, 10
100 Free 1:42.35 (PB), 7th; 50 Back 57.03 (PB), 13th; 100 Back 1:55.09 (PB), 13th; 50 Fly 1:09.26 (PB), 12th; 50 Free 46.66 (PB), 11th; 200 Free 3:42.39 (PB), 9th; 50 Breast 1:17.07 (PB), 21st
Hadlee had a great 3 days at the BMGC. She was nervous about her races this weekend but she channeled those nerves into some great races. 100 % best times and also raced in 2 relays with a total of 9 races. This was her first time swimming a breaststroke race, which is her favourite (insert sarcastic tone)!! It was also her first time for 200 free and 50 fly in short course races. The biggest result was her 100 free taking off 25.45 seconds. Fantastic weekend Hadlee!!
Marcus Fanning, 10
100 Free 1:42.90 (PB), 10th; 50 Back 51.12 (PB), 7th; 100 Back 1:49.12 (PB), 4th; 50 Free 47.71 (PB), 10th; 50 Breast 1:08.17 (PB), 15th
Marcus has been working hard at practice, especially with his dives and turns. Marcus did all of his backstroke turns in his races and was so proud of him working hard on those to confidently try them at a swim meet. He even knew where he could have made it even better when we talked about it after his 50 Backstroke race. Great job Marus with 100 % best times this weekend!
Kaden Goffinet, 16
100 Free 1:00.67 (PB), 4th; 50 Back 33.62 (PB), 5th; 200 IM 2:31.02 (PB), 1st; 50 Fly 32.08 (PB), 5th; 50 Free 28.06 (PB), 3rd; 100 Breast 1:16.35, 1st; 200 Free 2:12.62 (PB), 1st; 50 Breast 34.56 (PB), 1st
Kaden very much swims to race, and this weekend was no exception. With PB’s in everything but 1 event, and some significant drops, he always shows up and lets his swimming do the talking. He won a couple of close races, and he is edging so close to breaking the 60 second barrier in his 100 free.
Owen Gracie, 14
100 Free 1:18.44 (PB), 4th; 200 Breast 3:23.16, 3rd; 50 Fly 37.88 (PB), 5th; 50 Free 33.54 (PB), 6th; 100 Breast 1:31.30 (PB), 5th; 50 Breast 39.70 (PB), 2nd
Owen had a great meet. He might have struggled for a session or two, but by Saturday night he was on fire, doing some great best times in his 50 Free and 100 Breast, and feeling confident. On Sunday, with just his 50 breast to swim, Owen was ready to race and showed it. Leading his 50 the entire way, Owen broke 40 seconds for the first time and made a Saskatchewan Qualifying Time to go to Moose Jaw in February. Way to go Owen!
Wesley Henderson, 8
100 Free 1:33.44 (PB), 4th; 200 Breast 3:55.09 (PB), 1st; 200 IM 3:49.23 (PB), 2nd; 100 Back 1:51.53 PB), 10th; 50 Free 40.40 (PB), 3rd; 100 Breast 1:51.35 (PB), 2nd; 200 Free 3:30.76 (PB), 3rd; 50 Breast 50.98 (PB), 1st
This was a very big meet for Wesley and tackled 3 big swims in the middle of all of her other swims and 2 relays. She was nervous for her 200 BR, 200 IM and 200 Free. She persevered overcoming those nerves and swam so well in those big races. Wes also broke 3 club records this weekend for her age and made 2 “A” 11 & U qualifying times for Man/Sask Junior Swim meet in February. Good work Wes!!
Davis Hodel, 9
100 Free 2:14.38 (PB), 20th; 50 Back 1:01.76 (PB), 14th; 100 Back 2:05.69 (PB), 10th; 50 Free 57.85 9PB), 20th; 100 Breast 2:09.09 (PB), 10th; 50 Breast 1:00.26 (PB), 12th
This was Davis’ first ever swim meet and what an amazing first swim meet it was. He put all the things we were working on in practice together in his races. We now have times for all 6 races he swam this weekend and we can look at doing new races in the future too. Davis listened so well before his races and I was appreciative that he reached out to say that his hips were feeling stiff on Sunday. So we took some extra time in the warm-up to ensure he was feeling loose and not so stiff before the day of racing started. Awesome work Davis!!
Elizabeth Humphreys, 14
100 Free 1:09.55 , 3rd; 50 Back 36.45 (PB), 2nd; 50 Fly 32.97(PB), 1st;, 50 Free 30.42 (PB), 2nd; 50 Breast 39.66 (PB), 1st; 100 Fly 1:17.32 (PB), 1st
Elizabeth has kept improving her times over the past 2 years, to the point where she is having to race against some older swimmers in senior seeded events. But she stepped up all weekend and went as hard as she could to match their speed, coming away with 2 trial times, 2 near trial times, and lots of hardware for her efforts!
Isla Johnson, 9
100 Free 2:48.04 (PB), 29th; 50 Back 1:18.91(PB), 25th
Isla started the weekend off with a BOOM!! Taking off 48.40 seconds in her 100 Free and 9.57 off her 50 Back! Unfortunately, Isla did not feel well the rest of the weekend and did not race Saturday & Sunday. We have several meets coming up in the new year that you will get a chance to race in Isla. We are glad you are feeling better!
McKenna Lux, 14
100 Free 1:25.35 (PB), 9th; 50 Back 45.82 (PB), 10th; 100 Back 1:38.63 (PB), 4th; 50 Fly 44.71(PB), 8th; 50 Free 37.58 (PB), 11th 100 Breast 1:49.58 (PB), 8th; 200 Free 3:17.93 (PB), 10th; 50 Breast 49.13 (PB), 11th
McKenna’s start has come so far this year, she led off all her races taking time off before she ever hit the water! She did 100% best times, taking off tons of time in everything she swam, and showing that her consistency and hard work in the pool is paying off. Great job McKenna!
Sydni Martens, 21
100 Free 1:43.93 (PB), 6th; 50 Back 54.42 (PB), 7th; 50 Fly 55.40 (PB), 8th; 50 Free 45.95 (PB), 8th; 100 Breast 2:00.76 (PB),9th; 50 Breast 54.65 (PB), 4th
Sydni decided this year she wanted to compete after doing 1 long course meet last season, and she has trained hard already this season. She did 100% best times, and was a very determined athlete, making sure she was ready before every race, and staying to cheer on her teammates too! Great job Sydni!
Avery McDonald, 11
100 Free 1:15.52 (PB), 2nd; 50 Back 41.79 (PB), 5th; 100 Back 1:30.10 (PB), 2nd; 50 Fly 41.84 (PB), 6th; 50 Free 34.37 (PB), 4th; 100 Breast 1:37.92 (PB), 5th; 200 Free 2:50.18 (PB), 2nd; 50 Breast 43.94 (PB), 4th
Avery is another consistent swimmer who has found her groove this year. She made a festival time in her 50 breast, and took huge leaps in all of her other races, like 26 seconds in her 100 free and 47 seconds in her 200 free. She is always positive and loves to swim. Excellent job!
Isabel Miller, 11

Isa had a really good meet, showing her strength in the water over longer distances. She swam her 400 free and dropped 18 seconds, 9 in her 200 free, and 9 in her 200 breast. She made more festival times and has come a long way over the past year. Isa is also a leader in cheering and getting her teammates ready during activations! Way to go!

Jon had a good meet. I could tell he was concentrating very much on his races by his warm-ups and in coming to talk before and after his swims. He did a few really good best times, and in the races where he added, his strokes looked strong and his splits were very consistent. Jon, keep working hard!

Will had a tough meet in terms of swims and did a best time in his 400 IM on Friday night. Following that, life got a bit easier with each session, but he still had to do his 800 Free on Sunday. After a couple of great 50’s fly and breast, Will got ready and dropped 32 seconds in his 800 Free, coming within 2 seconds of the 16 and Over Champ Time. Great job and we all know you will get it soon!

Ivana tackled some big swims in her first meet. 200 Breast and 50 Fly to name a couple. Bring a first swim meet there are always learning opportunities that present themselves and Ivana took those opportunities and ran with it. Great work in and out of the pool Ivana!!

Emmy swims with our Splash Swim School and wanted to try a swim meet so why not do a meet at home? She is such a trooper, not knowing our competitive swimmers, but jumped in and did her thing. Some of our older swimmers took her under their wing and helped her out. She knew our junior coaches and was able to get great racing points from them as well. Fantastic job Emmy, keep up all your hard work in practice, it is paying off!!
Ayslin Sanderson, 9

This was Lincoln’s first meet of the year, like many of our swimmers. He has been working hard in practice with his dives, turns, and streamlines. He was nervous about his races but put that energy into his swims and did amazing. He showed me that he can swim fast! We will keep working on that in practice. Great Job Lincoln!

Connor has been training hard and listening all this year. He had swum a couple of festival times in practice, and this was his opportunity to make those official! Connor swam away this weekend with 4 new festival times, his first ever 400 free race, and 100% best times. Way to go Connor!
Oliver Tweten, 9
100 Free 1:41.62 (PB), 9th; 200 Breast 4:25.13 (PB), 6th; 100 Back 1:52.87 (PB), 6th; 50 Free 49.16, 11th; 100 Breast 2:06.26, 9th; 200 Free 3:34.87 (PB), 9th; 50 Breast 59.04, 11th
Oliver worked really hard in the pool this weekend. He has been working hard on his dives and underwater and has a lot of technique in all his strokes. His 200 Free was his swim of the meet. Listening to our race plan, 1st 50 swim fast (48.77), 2nd 50 find your rhythm (55.38) 3rd 50 - hold & start to build to get faster (56.93), and everything you got at the end (53.79). Oliver took off 51.76 seconds. Great swim Oli!!!
Isabel Unreiner, 14
100 Free 1:10.52 (PB), 5th; 50 Back 39.10, 7th; 100 Back 1:23.80, 3rd; 50 Fly 36.71, 5th; 50 Free 31.71 (PB), 4th; 200 Back 2:56.02 (PB), 2nd; 200 Free 2:35.85 (PB), 4th; 50 Breast 42.04 (PB), 5th
Izzy started the meet off with a bang in her 100 free and then went to some tough swims until Saturday night. The word resiliency is important in sports and Izzy showed it by showing up to race! She dropped 4 seconds in her 200 back, and 16 in her 200 free, and even got a 50 back personal best in the medley relay! Her starts seemed to get noticeably stronger each session, and she should be so proud of her early season achievements!
Hazel Vossler, 12
200 Breast 4:02.07(PB), 9th; 200 IM 3:50.07 (PB), 6th; 50 Fly 54.9 (PB)8, 13th; 50 Free 41.63 (PB), 17th; 100 Breast 1:51.87(PB), 12th; 50 Breast 51.30 (PB), 13th
Hazel has been having a lot of fun with training this year, and she is motivated. Her 200 breast included the best times for her in the 50 and 100 breast, not to mention the whole 200. She continued taking loads of time off in each event she swam, breaking 4 minutes for the first time ever in her 200 IM and rocking her 50 free! Way to go Hazel and keep it up!
Olivia Willberg, 12
100 Free 1:20.76 (PB), 4th; 50 Back 42.92 (PB), 6th; 100 Back 1:30.34 (PB), 3rd; 50 Fly 40.74 (PB), 5th; 50 Free 35.96 (PB), 6th; 100 Breast 1:45.46 (PB), 9th; 200 Free 3:01.81(PB), 5th; 50 Breast 48.84 (PB), 11th
Olivia has been challenging herself this year by chasing the senior swimmers up and down the pool. She has also made some good changes to her strokes, which were already coming along really well back in June. This is all paying off with some great time drops, like 20 seconds in her 100 free! Keep up the good work Olivia, as it is already paying off for you.
