Waves Results
The Waves brought 23 swimmers to Lethbridge this past weekend. This was the first long course meet this season for most of our swimmers attending and even the very first long course meet ever for some. Our swimmers did really well at this meet. Congratulations to all Wave Swimmers, we saw some really big time drops from last year's LC times. With it being our first LC meet we converted current short course times into LC times to have swimmers swim in heats where they would have great races in! Boy did they ever race!! 113 Personal Best Times!! Quinn Baht, Isabel Miller and Connor Tweten all made qualifying times for the Provincial Summer Festival Meet in June! 17 club records were broken by 4 swimmers: Ellis Anstey, Wesley Henderson, Isabel Unreiner and Jordan Hill.

This was Ellis first ever long course meet and he came in ready to race. He has been working hard on the small details in practice and put them into play this meet. Putting those Breaststroke underwater pullouts to work off dives and turns. 6 new personal times we can work off of for the next meet! Great job Ellis!!

Quinn had such a great meet! Although she felt a bit tired before warm-ups, she got ready and produced some great results with all best times! Quinn’s butterfly has really improved this year and she made her first 10 year old Festival time in her 100 Fly! So well done, Quinn!
Sophie Baht (13)

Sophie has been away traveling with her school, but she showed up to race and also had some really strong swims. She may have actually shocked herself with some of her times, but as she is strong in the water and had some good competition from her own friends, she swam her heart out and made several best times!
Connor Donnelly (10)
50 Free, 44.98, 8th, 100 Back, 1:55.95, 10th, 50 Fly, 58.73, 7th
Connor joined us for the sessions on Saturday. This was Connor’s first long course swim meet. Not only did he have 3 new personal best times, he received one in his 50 fly! A hard race in long course, not having a wall to push off of half way through, you can get tired. Connor showed great grit and strength in all his races!

Marcus also joined us on the Saturday sessions. This was also Marcus’ first long course swim meet and did an amazing job. Throwing down 100 Breaststroke, which is Marcus’ favourite! (insert Marcus going NO!) He did just a great job and with 3 new personal best times in long course, we can build from them for out next meet!! Fantastic job Marcus!

Kaden traveled to Germany over spring break and has been battling both being sick and some growing pains, but he made his Provincial Trials time in his 100 Free, and swam a very strong 200 free/50 Back combo on the last day of the meet! Great job Kaden!

Owen had a really strong meet, taking time off in a lot of events. Both his freestyle and butterfly have really improved, along with his endurance, and he swam some really strong races in his 50 and 100 Free and his 50 Fly. Great job!

A great birthday present to herself!! Wes has been working hard at practice and is it really paying off! Keep up the good work Wes!!
Jordan Hill (16)

Jordan looked strong all weekend, swimming her races with confidence and thinking her way through her longer events. She was able to do several best times where she was able to surprise herself, and she broke 3 club records along the way! Great job Jordan!
Elizabeth Humphreys (14)
100 Free, 1:10.76, 8th, 50 Breast 41.49, 6th, 50 Free, 31.27, 6th, 100 Breast, 1:33.76, 7th, 50 Fly, 34.47, 8th, 50 Back, 37.99, 10th
Elizabeth has been battling being sick, but her starts and breakouts in all of her races were absolutely stunning to watch. The biggest breakout was in her underwater where she nearly went past the 15 meter mark after her dives, which is a huge indication of how good her racing skills are. Great job Elizabeth!
Sydni Martens (21)
100 Free, 1:46.10, 3rd, 50 Breast, 56.26, 2nd, 50 Free, 45.16, 2nd, 100 Breast, 2:01.82, 1st, 50 Fly, 54.37, 3rd, 50 Back, 56.42, 2nd
Sydni has been putting a ton of time and effort into her practices and it shows! Constantly checking in with what she needs to do in her races and how she can improve shows all the heart Sydni puts in. A tough meet for her mentally but her “can do attitude” managed to triumph despite it!
Avery McDonald (12)
100 Free, 1:14.74, 13th, 50 Breast, 43.27, 3rd, 50 Free, 33.61, 10th, 100 Breast, 1:39.88, 9th, 100 Back, 1:35.22, 25th, 50 Fly, 40.99, 13th, 200 Free, 2:52.16, 14th, 50 Back, 43.62, 23rd
Avery has improved by leaps and bounds all year, and this being her first long course meet, showed some stunning improvements again. With a 36 second drop in her 200 free as an example, she showed up and raced hard all the time. She worked on her starts every session, and both her dives and back starts got to a point where her confidence shone through. Great job!
Isabel Miller (12)
200 Breast, 3:18.64, 1st, 200 Free, 2:48.78, 11th, 50 Back, 43.93, 24th
Isa was juggling soccer and swimming all weekend, but made it to her relays and the last half of the meet. She showed up to race, though, and blasted through her Festival Qualifying Time in her 200 Breast, splitting 2 1:36 100’s to grab that new time. Excellent job Isa!
Jonathan Miller (14)
100 Free, 1:19.17, 13th, 400 Free, 6:07.87, 14th, 50 Free, 35.81, 16th, 100 Breast, 1:56.82, 23rd, 100 Back, 1:42.93, 27th, 50 Fly, 47.86, 19th, 200 Free, 2:49.29, 18th, 50 Back, 46.80, 14th
I will let you in on a little secret: Jon has been secretly training mornings a couple of times a week, and his efforts have paid off, with some great results at this meet. His 400 Free was probably his strongest race, with him dropping 18 seconds, but not to be outdone on his other races, he went hard and swam very well every time he hit the water.
William Miller (16)
100 Free, 1:00.16, 4th, 400 Free, 4:44.20, 1st, 200 IM, 2:32.53, 3rd, 50 Free, 28.16, 3rd, 100 Back, 1:11.67, 7th, 50 Fly, 30.34, 6th, 200 Free, 2:11.68, 1st, 100 Fly, 1:07.41, 3rd
Will has also been traveling and plagued with being sick, but he came to the meet and worked through everything. He made a best time in his 100 Free, and came back as strong as he could in his longer races. He was composed the whole weekend and had some fun racing, knowing he will be back to work this week.
Ivana Motsi (10)
200 Free, 3:34.19, 8th, 50 Back, 51.18, 11th
Ivana was juggling all her sports this weekend and we were lucky that she was able to come on Sunday to race with us. This was Ivana’s first long course meet as well. Her 200 free looked amazing taking off 9.01 seconds off her entry time, which was her short course time converted to long course. She just swam 200 free s/c in March at the NSCA meet. Great work Ivana!
Sunai Motsi (8)
200 Free, 4:20.84, 14th, 50 Back, 58.27, 19th
Small but mighty describes this meet for Sunai! She swam her first ever 200 free and she looked like a pro! Doing flipturns, underwaters and keeping her stroke nice and long just like she's been practicing. So much hard work went into her races this weekend and we couldn't be any prouder. Great work Sunai!!
Avery Tweten (7)
100 Free, 1:53.34, 16th, 50 Breast, 1:06.39, 13th, 50 Free, 51.25, 17th, 100 Back, 2:02.01, 15th, 50 Back, 55.18, 17th
Calm, cool and collected perfectly describes Miss Avery Tweten this weekend. Constantly checking in before her races, getting in the zone mentally and then absolutely crushing her races and her best times. She's such a hard worker and a joy to have on the pool deck with us! Fantastic work Avery!
Connor Tweten (12)
100 Free, 1:20.90, 4th, 50 Breast, 47.04, 2nd, 200 IM, 3:16.59, 7th, 100 Breast, 1:41.53, 5th, 200 Breast, 3:29.17, 4th, 50 Fly, 42.74, 4th, 200 Free, 2:54.36, 9th, 50 Back, 43.64, 9th
Connor kind of had a break-out weekend, making his Provincial Festival Time in his 200 Brest by 5 seconds! But, he demonstrated that he now has 4 strong strokes, dropping time in everything and anything he swam. Such a great effort and his training is really starting to pay off!
Oliver Tweten (10)
100 Free, 1:44.20, 9th, 50 Breast, 57.79, 6th, 50 Free, 42.24, 6th, 100 Breast, 2:01.02, 5th, 100 Back, 1:51.68, 7th, 200 Breast, 4:11.96, 1st, 200 Free, 3:37.57, 6th, 50 Back, 51.54, 9th
Oliver came with his game face on this weekend. He put everything we have been working on into play this meet. He took so much time off all of his long course races. 100% best times with an amazing 200 Breaststroke taking 27.70 seconds off. Keep working hard in practice Oli, the time will just keep melting off!! Whoop Whoop!!
Isabel Unreiner (15)
100 Free, 1:10.66, 8th, 50 Breast, 44.02, 8th, 50 Free, 31.90, 9th, 100 Breast, 1:38.65, 3rd, 100 back,1:29.06, 9th , 50 Fly, 35.38, 8th, 200 Free, 2:42.60, 4th, 50 Back, 40.04, 7th
Izzy has been battling some growing pains as well, but that didn’t stop her from breaking 2 club records and taking a lot of time off everything she swam. Her strokes all look great, her starts are looking both more consistent and much more confident, and she was always out fast in her races, looking to get faster or just hold on each time she swam. Great job!
Hazel Vossler (13)
100 Free, 1:29.89, 21st, 50 Breast 52.58, 14th, 50 Free, 40.05, 17th, 100 Breast, 1:54.40, 17th, 200 Breast, 4:02.48, 11th, 50 Fly, 49.73, 20th, 200 Free, 3:23.11, 17th, 50 Back, 46.79, 25th
Hazel has been having a breakthrough, monumental and I hope fun, year! She tore through her old best times, most of which (if not all) are now faster than her short course times. Breaking 1:30 in her 100 Free, 50 seconds in her 50 fly, and swimming 2 very strong 200’s showed she has a lot of heart and puts great physical and mental effort into her races!
Olivia Willberg (13)
100 Free, 1:14.75, 14th, 200 Back, 3:20.65, 6th, 50 Free, 35.38, 13th, 100 Breast, 1:45.03, 15th, 100 Back, 1:35.10, 10th, 50 Fly, 41.29, 18th, 200 Free, 2:53.31, 15th, 50 Back, 42.56, 21st
Olivia had a great meet. She has really improved on her strokes and is using both her technique and her strength to obliterate her old best times, or to finish new races with a great set up for next time (200 back). She is a bold racer, going out hard and trying to finish even stronger than she started. Great job, Olivia!
