Ethan has been working on a lot of technique since the beginning of the season and is looking really good in the water and putting it in his races.  Sometimes, it takes a bit to get it all second nature and when it comes all together it is going to be fun to watch.   This weekend he achieved 2 new personal best times and a new time in 50 Fly.  Great work this weekend!!

11-12 50 Breast 1:08.89 20th

Hadlee swam some big races this weekend, races that she has not done very often or not at all. Her strokes looked really good in the water and with swimming her 200 races more she will get more and more familiar with how to race them.  She also received 100 % best times in all her races showing that all her hard work in practice is working.  Fantastic weekend Hadlee!

Huxley Dunbar (9) M

9 & Under 50 Back 1:12.93 13th            9 & Under 50 Free 58.30 11th

Huxley has joined our competitive program this year after being in our Splash Swim School.  He swam so well in his first swim meet, setting 2 first ever best times in 50 Back and 50 Free.  Huxley was nervous and excited all the same time and in the end had a great time.  Loved your smiles all weekend Huxley!

Lyrah Eggins (11) F

Lyrah worked hard at her first real swim meet this weekend. Despite being a bit unsure she faced every event with a smile and raced hard. For her first relay she caught on fast, and was eager to share her knowledge with Hannah the next day! We all appreciated the enthusiasm you brought to each and every session. Great work!

Kaden has grown so tall over the last few months that he is figuring out how to swim with increased arm and leg length.  He showed it off in his 50 Free and 100 Breast particularly well on Saturday night, breaking 27 for the first time in his 50 and 1:15 for the first time in his 100 Breast.

Wesley Henderson (9) F

9-10 200 Free 3:18.30 6th                9-10 50 Breast 47.93 1st

Wesley shrugged off feeling ill on Saturday morning, to swim 3 strong sessions herself, with some outstanding swims in her 50, 100 and 200 Free, and then blazed a 3:37 200 Breast!  Great work.

Jordan Hill (16) F

15 & Over 200 Breast 3:21.86 3rd            15 & Over 100 Back 1:20.61 5th

15 & Over 50 Breast 43.72 7th            15 & Over 800 Free 11:09.66 5th

Jordan has been racing enough this year to feel confident going into her swims.  Starting with her 400 Free on Friday and dropping 5 seconds from a week ago, she finished off with a huge drop in her 800 Free on Sunday, going sub 11:10 and negatively splitting her 400 splits!

Davis Hodel (10) M

10-11 200 Breast 3:54.27 1st                10-11 50 Back 54.80 9th

10-11 50 Breast 50.54 5th

Davis raced hard this weekend swimming to 3 Festival Times in all the Breaststroke races.  It was a weekend of highs, lows and learning opportunities.  There is never a bad race, just a way to learn and use it for the next time we get into the pool for practice and races.  Great job Davis!!

Leighton Hodel (7) F

8 & Under 100 Free 2:23.56 6th            8 & Under 50 Back 1:08.06 8th

8 & Under 50 Breast 1:21.93 6th

This was Leighton’s first meet of the season and added 3 new races to her repertoire. 100 FR, 100 BK and 50 BR.  She was so excited to be at the pool this weekend and had so much fun in and out of the pool.  You are putting in great effort Leighton, keep it up!

Elizabeth Humphreys (15) F

15 & Over 100 Free 1:06.50 8th            15 & Over 50 Back 34.89 6th

15 & Over 50 Free 30.17 7th                15 & Over 50 Breast 39.53 4th

Elizabeth’s 100 Free, 50 and 100 Back were her dominant races all weekend, making her Trials times in each of those races.  It was her first time under 35 in her 50 back, 2 second drop in her 100 Back, and a really great 100 Free.

Isla Johnson (10) F, Para PSPI

9-10 100 Free 2:42.56 16th                9-10 50 Back 1:20.23 17th

9-10 100 Breast 2:50.78 14th

Isla was moving in the pool this weekend.  She has been working on new techniques in all her strokes and they paid off.  She was looking really strong in the pool even though she was not feeling the best and pushed through Saturday to help with a team relay.  With 3 new personal best times and setting new 10 year old para club records she just keeps inspiring us all!   Amazing work Isla!!

Ellis Johnson (7) M

9 & Under 100 Free 2:26.22 9th            9 & Under 50 Back 1:10.00 12th

9 & Under 50 Free 1:01.02 12th

Ellis had a new race this weekend, 50 BR which he was nervous about but once he hit that water there was the biggest smile on his face the entire race!  It was so much fun to watch!  Ellis also set a new best time in his 50 BK taking an impressive 5.33 seconds off.  What a weekend Ellis, terrific work!

Hannah Le (9) F

9-10 100 Free 1:47.81 14th                9-10 50 Back 55.52 14th

9-10 50 Breast 58.62 11th

Hannah had a great weekend, racing hard in every event! Although she hurt her leg during her start in the 50 Free, she pushed through the pain for a best time! In fact, she walked away with best times in every event! Hannah also gave it everything she had in her final swim of the competition, her first relay! Awesome job Hannah, can’t wait to see more!

McKenna Lux (15) F

15 & Over 100 Free 1:21.77 12th            15 & Over 50 Back 45.92 10th

15 & Over 200 Free 2:57.28 8th            15 & Over 50 Breast 48.52 8th

McKenna had a good weekend, taking off some significant time in her 50 Free especially, with a 3 second drop!  Her strokes look great and her turns have improved a lot even in the 3 weeks since Lethbridge.  Very good work McKenna.

Sydni Martens (22) F, Para S14

15 & Over 50 Back 56.46 1st                15 & Over 50 Free 44.86 1st

15 & Over 50 Breast 54.73 1st

Sydni swam a slightly easier meet than normal due to a lingering ankle injury that is slowly getting better.  She raced well and her strokes looked good in each of her races.  Way to go Sydni, and I hope that your ankle feels 100% soon!

Avery McDonald (12) F

11-12 100 Free 1:08.12 1st                11-12 50 Back 37.94 1st

11-12 100 Back 1:23.88 2nd                11-12 50 Fly 37.43 2nd

11-12 50 Free 31.12 1st                11-12 100 Breast 1:33.80 4th

11-12 50 Breast 42.57 4th                11-12 100 Fly 1:30.01 1st

Avery had a good meet, taking time off in several events and making both her Festival and Trials time in her 100 Free.  She also did her first ever 100 Fly, finishing strong on the last length.  She really came alive on the back-half of her 50 back where you could watch her arms speed up as she raced to the finish!

Isabel Miller (12) F

11-12 200 Breast 3:06.20 1st                11-12 50 Back 38.83 3rd

11-12 100 Breast 1:29.09 2nd

Isa had a couple of breakthrough swims herself, going well under 6:00 in her 400 Free, and under 40 in her 50 back, both for the first time!  She also dropped .35 in her 50 Free just to consistently show she is developing speed.

Jonathan Miller (14) M

14-15 100 Free 1:12.84 10th                14-15 50 Back 42.13 7th

14-15 50 Fly 42.84 10th                14-15 400 Free 5:42.44 4th

14-15 50 Free 33.69 10th                14-15 200 Free 2:38.78 5th

14-15 50 Breast 46.25 6th

Jon has had a very good start to his season, and this meet was no exception with some big drops in his 50 and 100 Free, and best times in his 50 Fly, 50 Back and 50 Breast.  He got a break this weekend from 100 Fly, but that event will be back on his racing schedule real soon!

William Miller (17) M

16 & Over 100 Free 58.41 2nd            16 & Over 50 Back 30.05 3rd

16 & Over 400 Free 4:27.04 1st            16 & Over 50 Free 26.85 5th

16 & Over 200 Fly 2:19.14 3rd            16 & Over 800 Free 9:14.95 1st

For a guy who really didn’t feel like swimming his 200 Fly, Will dropped 5 seconds and said it felt easy at 150 mark.  But he raced hard throughout the weekend, doing bests in everything but his 100 Free.  He is getting very close to breaking that 30 second mark in his 50 back, and showed his endurance is really coming along in his 400 and 800 Free.

Ganon Parker (8) M

9 & Under 100 Free 2:54.18 10th            9 & Under 50 Back 1:20.70 14th

9 & Under 50 Free 1:29.63 14th

Ganon keeps impressing me with his willingness to try it. His fearlessness gets him through the tough swim of his first 100 Free.  He asked all the right questions, making sure he was prepared for it.  He also got a best time in his 50 Bk taking 5.57 seconds off.   Outstanding work!!

Zoe Peterson (9) F

9-10 100 Free 1:45.69 12th                9-10 50 Back 55.63 15th

9-10 100 Back 2:01.33 11th                9-10 50 Free 46.05 15th

9-10 100 Breast 2:17.13 11th                9-10 50 Breast 1:00.12 16th

Zoe has had 3 meets in 4 weeks and is working hard on all the new techniques we have been working on.  It is all coming together and can not wait till it becomes second nature. She swam to 3 new personal best times in her 100 Bk, 50 and 100 BR which she just swam last weekend as well.  Keep working hard in practice Zoe!!

Lincoln Siemens (8) M

9 & Under 100 Free 1:52.84 4th            9 & Under 50 Back 57.77 6th

9 & Under 100 Back 2:00.13 5th            9 & Under 50 Free 49.28 7th

9 & Under 100 Breast 2:15.76 4th            9 & Under 50 Breast 1:04.30 5th

Lincoln gave this swim meet a ton of thought! He asked many questions during warmup as well as before and after swims, showing his clear desire to race to the best of his abilities. He was quite nervous for his 100 back but he didn’t let that stop him, and he got best times in all his races! Congratulations Lincoln on a great competition!

Wes Stevens (8) M

9 & Under 50 Back 1:26.40 15th            9 & Under 50 Free 1:18.60 13th

We were so glad to see Wes at the pool this weekend.  Everything was a complete new experience for Wes and he handled it so well. From crazy warm up, practicing starts and getting ready to race. Congratulations on your first ever swim meet and 2 new personal best times Wes!

Avery Tweten (8) F

8 & Under 100 Free 1:46.97 3rd            8 & Under 50 Back 55.96 4th

8 & Under 50 Fly 1:03.06 3rd                8 & Under 50 Free 47.62 3rd

8 & Under 100 Breast 2:13.79 4th            8 & Under 200 Free 3:42.23 1st

8 & Under 50 Breast 1:03.25 2nd

Avery also swam in Fernie last weekend and proved she may be small but mighty!  She had a big line up of races this weekend.  Avery went for all her turns in her 100 Backstroke, it may not have been the outcome she wanted but it was an amazing learning experience and will be more confident the next time.  Keep attempting the things that may be hard Avery because it will get easier every time you do it!

Connor Tweten (12) M

12-13 100 Free 1:20.21 8th                12-13 200 Breast 3:28.35 1st

12-13 100 Back 1:28.46 3rd                12-13 400 Free 5:45.76 3rd

12-13 50 Free 35.85 9th                12-13 100 Breast 1:38.70 5th

12-13 200 Free 2:51.07 4th                12-13 50 Breast 46.56 8th

Connor is a very tough racer and you can always count on his back-half.  His 400 Free really demonstrated this as he dropped 7 seconds from a week ago, and made his Festival time.  His speed is also shown in his 50 Free.  Connor’s turns have also really improved with him staying under off the walls and using his speed off the wall to help him out!

Oliver Tweten (10) M

10-11 100 Free 1:34.47 7th                10-11 200 Breast 4:00.87 2nd

10-11 100 Back 1:39.20 4th                10-11 50 Free 43.15 10th

10-11 200 Free 3:14.47 5th                10-11 50 Breast 53.86 8th

We are definitely seeing Oliver getting stronger in his swims.  He now has 3 swim meets under his belt this season and the biggest drop of the season was this weekend in his 200 FR with 20.40 seconds.  He also achieved 2 other personal best times as well. Your effort is really showing, keep it up Oli!!

Izzy’s 4th meet of the year already showed her returning to form with increased confidence and speed.  She started off with a great 100 Free, and then showed how good her Fly is feeling right now with her 50 Fly event faster than last weekend.  Way to Go!

Hazel has been racing hard this fall, and while she was definitely a bit tired this weekend, she came through in her 200 IM by showing herself how strong she is getting and doing a best time.  Her 50 Free was also a standout swim, going under 37 for the first time ever.

Olivia Willberg (13) F

13-14 50 Breast 42.98 8th                13-14 100 Fly 1:30.02 8th

Olivia had a great meet, dropping 4 seconds in her 100 Free, 20 in her 200 Breast, and on and on throughout the weekend. She has really worked on her dives, turns and underwater this year, and that combined with lengthening her stroke out while retaining her power, has made for an awesome combo!  Great job!
