MEL ZAJAC INTERNATIONAL MEET: UPDATE
If any experienced officials would be interested in helping out as relief officials at the Mel Zajac International meet at UBC your help would be greatly appreciated. Here’s the email our office received form the UBC Dolphins club manager.
I am wondering if one or both of you would be able to help with officiating at Zajac next weekend (May 22, 23 & 24).
The meet is going to be a LARGE event with 520 swimmers in the meet, from USA, Australia, New Zealand and of course Canada. Some of the top swimmers in the world will be here, including Olympians Bronte Barret (AUS), Margaret Hoelzer (USA), Megan Jendrick (USA), Annabelle Carey (NZ), and our own Olympians Annamay Pierse, Ryan Cochrane, Jillian Tyler, Erica Morningstar, Alexa Komarnycky, Jake Tapp, Lindsay Seeman, Savannah King, Tanya Hunks, Brian Johns, Brent Hayden, Joe Bartoch & Richard Hortness,
We’re hoping it will be one of the fastest Zajac Meets ever, and it will certainly be the deepest meet we’ve ever run, as we’re including a C finals for the 50’s, 100’s & 200’s.
We have the meet set up in the ’blocked format’ where we’ll be swimming the overflow heats at the end of the heats session. I am looking specifically for RELIEF OFFICIALS that can come in for about 3 hours to help out from around12:00pm - 3:00pm, each day, so we can relieve the officials who have been on deck since 7:30am.
If you can help out for one, or more days - please let me know. We would REALLY appreciated the help!
thanks so much for your support,
Janice Hanan
