Olympic Torch Relay Day - No Practice!
On Tuesday February 9th the Olympic Torch Relay will make its way through Richmond. The relay will begin its journey through Richmond at Steveston & No 5 Road at 4:30pm. There will not be any afternoon practices this day as we encourage everyone to get into the Olympic Spirit and check out the relay as it makes it way through the city and your neigborhood.
Richmond Rapid Alumni and para -olympic swimmer will be carrying the torch from the Oval to Hollybridge Way at approximately 7:06 pm. If you can make it to the Oval then we encourage everyone to wear their Rapids gear and cheer on Walter for his 300 meter leg of the relay. Walter grew up in Richmond and swam in mutliple Para Olympics and World Championships and broke numerous records along the way. In 1996 in the Atlanta Summer Olympics Walter won 5 gold medals!
Also, please be aware of any changes to your children's swiming schedule for this month. The schedule can be found in the news section of the website under the heading "Olympic Update".
Sincerely,
Rapids Coaching Staff
