This Saturday ( April 3rd ) CBC will be airing LIVE from 2-3pm the finals of the Pan Pacific Trials that are taking place in Montreal.  Winners of each event will automatically get selected to be a part of Canada's team that will compete this August at the Pan Pacific Championships in Irvine, California. It will also serve as the qualifier for other summer international competitions.

The Pan Pacific Championships take place every four years and in 2006 was in Victoria.  The Pan Pacific charter nations include Canada, USA, Australia & Japan.  A number of other Pan Pacific countires also compete at this meet including South Korea, & Brazil.  In 2006, 6 world records  were broken by the likes of Michael Phelps and Natalie Coughlin.  Ryan Cochrane and South Korea's Tae Hwan Park, ( medalists in Bejing) made names for themselves on the international stage at this meet.  Rapids Alumni, Brian Johns and Jordan Hartney competed as well.

On Saturday, many BC swimmers are in contention to win medals.  Our own Daniella Korotchenko is also competing at  meet in her very first Senior National level competition.  Good luck Dani!!
