Rapids Rumble to a strong start a BC AA Champs
Surrey, BC - Day 1 of the BC AA Long Course Provincial Championships began today and our team got off to a great start. At the conclusion of prelimainaries, Selina Zhuo dominated the girls 11 & under 800 Freestyle by winning the gold by 26 seconds! It was also a personal best time by 50 seconds! With numerous personal best time performances in the morning session by our swimmers lead to the majority of them qualifying for finals this evening
Getting us started tonight in the first event of finals and earning the Silver medal in the girls 11 & under 200 IM was Jessica Jones with a time 3:04.65. On the boys side Pratik Bassi of the Regional Development group won the bronze medal in the 12 year old boys category. In the very next event, the 50 FR, Pratik placed 4th while his RD group mate, William Weng, got off to a great start and went wire to wire to take the gold medal with a time of 31.69! The next event, the 200 Butterfly, saw a number of Rapids get second swims. Bronze medals were won by PAG's Melissa Quon ( 11 & under) and Emma Letts ( 12 year old girls). Our 12 & under girls 200 FR A relay team ( Selina, Emma, Jessica, & kate) capped the evening off with a strong perfomance to earn the bonze medal as well. Congratulations to all the kids that participated and perfomred well today. Tommorrow looks to be even stronger as our athletes will race even harder and continue to have lots of fun! Go RAPIDS Go!
