Rapids Swimmers Go The Distance with Swim A Thon!
From November 11-13th over 150 Richmond Rapids Swimmers took part in the annual Swim A Thon and National 5 KM Challenge. There were some outstanding results from every level of the club from RSS 1 to our National swimmers.
The RSS swimmers swam during their normal practice time. Level 1 & 2 swimmers had 30 minutes, 3 & 4 had 45 minutes and the level 5's had 60 minutes. 71 swimmers took part including Isaac Zhao in level 1 that swam in the BIG pool and completed 300 meters! The Top RSS swimmers swam 2000 meters!
At Watermania, the RD & AGD swimmers had just under 2 hours and were awesome. Sydney Pizzinato (10 years old) in AGD 1 was the top girl completing the 5 KM in 1:44:56! All 7 AGD 2 boys that participated completd the 5 KM challenge as well and the top swimmer was Matthew Crawford in 1:28:24. The Top RD boy was Jonathon Loa in 1:30:08 and the top RD girl was Delaram Ahmadian-Yazdi in 1:39:47.
On Saturday morning the Regional, PAG & National groups completed the 5 KM challenge long course. The top swimmers were 15 & over swimmers were Jack Hong & Nathan Muszynski in 1:06:00. Top 13-14 year old boy was Michael Jakac Sinclair in a time of 1:11:25 and top13-14 girl was Paula Gosse in 1:16:23. Our Top 11-12 year old girl was Selina Zhou and boy was Max Schaffler.
Special recognition goes out to Nicolaas Dekker, whom for the second year in a row completed the 5KM challenge BUTTERFLY!! Well done Nic!
Special thanks goes out to Wendy Berry and her crew that set up the pancake breakfast for the swimmers on Saturday.
Pledge forms and all donations are due back November 30th. Please make sure to have all the documents included in the Swim a thon package filled out correctly when you hand in the swim a thon package.
