RICHMOND RAPIDS SWIM CLUB

Rapids well represented at Senior Champs

Last weekend at UBC, the Richmond Rapids competed with some of the country's best swimmers at the TAS BC Senior Championships, the Rapid's first long course meet of the season. To qualify, swimmers must have had a minimum of 15 year old AAA times.

Though swimming fatigued after a long taper and a demanding AAA's the previous weekend, there were many best times and second swims. Most notably, Jeanelle Aldaba broke two Rapids team records. The first, the 800 freestyle, bettered her own record by 4.3 seconds, with a time of 10:07.61. The second, the 50 butterfly, broke the 5 year old Rapids record with a time of 31.16.

These were promising results at this point in the season, looking forward to a very successful 2011 long course.
