Our Coaching Philosophy
SDSA 🤝 Growth Mindset
We believe that swimming's distinct challenges builds a disciplined mindset, and our goal is to help swimmers build a strong sense of self that they can depend on throughout their life. Our athletes have helped us achieve this goal as we see them overcome obstacles like finishing a hard practice or reaching a goal time.
SDSA 🤝 Sportsmanship
Swimming is often seen as an individual sport, but the competition only makes up a small fraction of their time in the water. We believe that the time spent in practice is most vital to our swimmers becoming successful.
SDSA 🤝 Empowerment
We built an atmosphere that celebrates every swimmer's accomplishments, and we see our swimmers empower one another daily. We push, challenge and cheer for each other so that every swimmer feels capable of developing an admirable skillset that champions success through high school, college and beyond.
SDSA 🤝 Safety and Well-being
Our top priority is creating a safe environment that promotes physical, mental, and emotional well-being for everyone involved. We teach our athletes the value of cooperation, communication and kindness to all.
SDSA 🤝 Leadership
The most successful leaders are those who lead with the intention of supporting those around them. Building on individual accomplishment and sportsmanship has helped our swimmers find value in the life they are living. SDSA is only a snapshot in time for our swimmers, but we are so proud to see our swimmers move on to deeper levels of involvement and leadership in their communities.
SDSA 🤝 Diversity
We encourage respect for people of all ages, abilities, cultures and beliefs. It is not just the toleration of diversity, but the celebration of it that brings us together for the good of all.
SDSA 🤝 Celebration
We believe that swimming can (and should) be fun—just like life! We hope that this sport can help swimmers remember what life is about despite the chaos or occasional setback. And what better way to celebrate than splashing around pools, waves and oceans with friends and family on the daily? We are also known for hosting the occasional tailgate or two.
