Final meets and news

dave kilmer

We're about to wrap up the summer season!!!

Wednesday - Just-For-Fun meet.

Tonight is another "just for fun" meet at the Kroc center from 5:00 - 7:00 PM. Almost everyone on the team has participated in these before. It's just an opportunity to get some racing in at practice, and allows swimmers to get a small taste of a swim meet with little to no pressure.

See you there.

Annual two week break

Each year after our final meet we take some time off. . . final vacation opportunity, letting kids adjust to the start of school, and just a little time away for everyone before heading into a new season. This year's break is Aug 4-17, and we'll resume swimming on the 18th. We have a few fun events planned when we return: hike, beach day, zoom day (this will be for swimmers and parents).

Swimmers should arrive by 7:10 each day, and the meet will end around noon for those swimming in the last events.

General meet info (if you see cast as 7:20 warmup - this is just our in the water time, so we need you there at 7:10)

Meet Jobs

It takes a lot of work to run a meetWe need you to help!!!!!!

All of the jobs are simple, and most require no training. Below are a few explanations:

Friday night setup: After practice on Friday night we need peeps to help unload the u-haul and set up the pool. This either takes me and 3 people 45-60 minutes, or takes me - alone - 3-4 hours. Please help. especially if you have swimmers practicing Friday afternoon, driving to helix and helping for a short time will be a tremendous help.

Sat AM check in table: Very Simple - but extreemely important job - checking in the kids for their events. 3 minutes to train, and the job is over at 8:30 am, so you get to sit with a few teammate parents and make friends before the meet starts.

Snack bar: We're running a very limited snack bar (pretty much just snacks, so no cooking) but we need help serving people.

Announcer: Just announce the heats - it's fun. and you get to watch all of the action.

Awards: simple - sticking labels on ribbons and organizing into team bags, very neccessary for kids to get their ribbons.

Deck marshall - you get to wear a bright vest and keep kids from diving into the warmup area or messing around. We need one for safety.

Head timer: sounds complicated, but it's really simple. All you do is start 2 spare stopwatches in case a timer doesn't get theirs started - then exchange your running watch with the timer.....happens a couple of times an hour.

Runner: super simple - post heat and lane assignements on the wall, post results on the wall, and pick up timer sheets at the conclusion of an event.

The job signup is online on our site.

Thanks!
