Alana Murray

Coach Alana grew up in Long Beach, CA. She swam throughout her childhood and started swimming for Viking Aquatics in 2008. She attended the PACE program at Long Beach Polytechnic High School and competed on the varsity swim team all four years. She competed at CIF all four years (2011-2014) and was a CIF finalist in the 100-yard free in 2013 and 2014. She continued swimming and competing with Viking, finaling at Junior Olympics from 2012-2014. Coach Alana swam for Viking until August 2014, when she left Long Beach to attend Boston College. During college, she decided to pivot away from swimming and joined the Boston College Women's Rugby Team, competing at the collegiate level. During her summer breaks, she returned to Long Beach and coached for Viking. She graduated from Boston College in May 2018 with a B.S. in Psychology and returned home to Long Beach to continue coaching for Viking. Her coaching career was put on hold for several years due to a busy career in case management, but she returned to coaching Gold group in September 2024.

Coach Alana is currently a full-time registered nursing student at Cerritos College and also works as a tutor. She plans to continue coaching while she starts her career as a night shift RN. In her spare time, Coach Alana enjoys walking her dog Siggi and lifting weights.

Hailey Wadlington

Red Group

Hey, my name is Hailey, and I am a student-athlete at LBCC. I moved down here from Oregon about 2 years ago, and I have been coaching for a year and a half. I have been swimming since I was 4 and have always loved the sport. I want Junior Viking to be a fun experience that kids will enjoy while learning the basic techniques of swimming!

Sarah Capt

White Group

Hi my name is Sarah!
I’m a born and raised Long Beach local. I’ve swam competitively since I was 5 years old and started playing water polo at 13.
I was on Varsity swim and water polo at Lakewood High school all 4 years, and I Competed in CIF my sophomore through senior year. I also swam here at Viking since I was 7 years old and played club water polo at Huntington Beach.
I then competed at the collegiate level here at LBCC on both the swim and water polo team.
I am currently starting my first year as a Nursing student at Pacific college where I plan to attain my BSN and soon after transfer into the MSN program.

For fun I really enjoy traveling, boating and off-roading. If I’m not around a pool you’ll probably find me at the lake or in the desert.
Fun fact about me: I got my first dirt bike for my first birthday but I’m also a major girly girl and love all things fashion related.

Avery White

Junior Viking

Hey my name is Avery! I am from Carson, CA and went to West Torrance High School. I have been swimming since I was 4 years old and playing water polo since 7 years old. I was on Varsity Water Polo and Swim all 4 years in High School, swam club here at Viking my Senior year, and played club water polo for South Bay United and Palos Verdes since I was 12. I am currently on the water polo and swim teams here at LBCC where I was able to be apart of the back-to-back State Championship water polo teams! I also was able to compete at State for swimming and broke two of our school records!

I am currently working towards my Associates degree in Business Administration and hope to transfer to get my Bachelors degree in Sports Management. My whole life basically involves being at the pool, but when I am not practicing or coaching I love to do crafts, watch movies, attend sporting events, and spend time with my family. Fun fact about me is that I have 5 siblings, one of which swims for Viking right now!

Gigi Gabauer

Junior Viking

Hi my name is Gigi! I’m from Torrance CA and I’ve been swimming for 6-7 years. 6 of the years on my club team, and all 4 years of high school on Varsity. I swam at CIF my Junior and Senior year. I’m also on the swim team here at LBCC. I’m currently in my second year at LBCC and I have applied for transfer in Fall 2026 where I hope to study Human Development Sciences at UCSD and finish all my stem courses, so I can apply to PA school after undergrad.

For fun I enjoy hiking, baking, getting matcha or coffee with friends, swimming somewhere other than a pool, and just having a good time in whatever form that may be.
Fun fact about me: one of my best friends is from Switzerland, and my favorite swim event is the mile. 😊
