OUR PROGRAM

The Greenwood Gators Swim Lessons Program is a branch of the Greenwood Gators Swim Team. The goal of the Greenwood Gators Swim Lesson program is to provide members of the community with high quality swimming instruction so they may be able to improve their swimming and water safety skills. All instructors participate in on-going internal training in order to provide safe, fun, and high quality swimming lessons. The progression through our lesson levels allows for a smooth transition to our competitive team. We hope to equip everyone with the knowledge and endurance needed for safety as well as physical health.

HOW DOES IT WORK

Lesson Format:We offer group lessons in cycles. One cycle is 4 weeks and each cycle contains 8 lessons. The group lessons are offered in five different levels. During each cycle swimmers will be taught skills based on their level. At the end of a cycle instructors will evaluate each swimmer to see if they can move up to the next level. (A break down of what each level teaches can be found under the level descriptions tab).

Evaluations/Registration:Before a cycle begins an registration date will be announced. To figure out what level your child should be registered for us the tab on top bar on the home page for level descriptions. This will help you determine what level to register for by what skills they need to learn. If you still need help email us and we can help you decide or sometimes find a time to do a quick in pool evaluation before you register. To register from home just go to the "lesson registration" tab above and select the level recommended.

TIMES:

A cycle runs on a Monday/Wednesday or Tuesday/Thursday class schedule. The different levels are offered in the evenings from 5-8 pm. All classes are 30 minutes. Child must have passed level 5 and/or have been evaluated by Coach Abbi to get into level 6.

COST: 1 Cycle is $120 for all group levels and Adult/Child classes. Private lessons are $42 per half-hour lesson (8 lessons cycle). Payment is required at registration.

POLICIES:

All participants are expected to be present for all classes and arrive on time. Students who are 15 minutes late or more may not be able to participate in the class. Due to our small class ratios and the importance of kids getting more individual attention from the instructor there will not be any make ups or credit for missed classes for personal reasons or sickness.

The main form of communication for our program is email. Be sure that the email you selected for your account is checked regularly.

No refunds or credits are given after the first day of classes.

Due to liability rules, parents are asked to stay off the pool deck. Outside of Parent and Child and special needs swimmers, there are no parents that get into the water with any swimmers. Parents are welcome to sit in the bleachers.

All swimmers need to be potty trained or wear a swim diaper.

All students progress at their own rates. It is not uncommon for children to repeat a level to work on a few skills before progressing to the next level. We want all of the children in our program to become confident swimmers with the skills that they need to be successful, so we will not move children up to a higher level before they are adequately prepared.
