Swim caps were originally invented to keep hair dry and to protect hair from chlorine and chemicals. Some pools began requiring caps to reduce maintenance with their filters. As they evolved, new versions were designed to help competitive swimmers streamline through the water by reducing frontal drag to swim faster. But, until now, there has not been a swimming cap to help protect aquatic athlete's heads when accidents occur.

If reported, these are all moves in the right direction although they are all reactive to an injury. In high school alone, medical professionals report around 2 million concussions per year.
