Jenny Wait CSI Age Group Chair

Coach Jenny is a Colorado native who started swimming and found her love of the sport at the age of 11 on a summer swim team in Boulder, CO.  She went on to swim for Pomona High School where she was a four year letter winner and State Qualifier.  Jenny also swam with North Jeffco Swim Team and was a member of the Colorado Zone team.  She furthered her career by swimming at the University of Northern Colorado as a scholarship athlete.  While swimming at UNC as a freestyle swimmer, predominantly mid to long distance events, Jenny was a four year letter winner and two-time NCAA Division II All-American.  She also graduated from UNC with a BA in Kinesiolgy and a minor in Coaching.  Swimming in college was the best of her swimming experiences, her greatest accomplishment and she would do it all over again.

Jenny's love of swimming carried over into a coaching career, starting with three season with the summer swim team she started on, the Rock Creek Flyers in Lafayette shortly after college.  She then went on to coach at her alma mater, Pomona High School Girls Swimming.  After a small hiatus, Jenny rejuvinated her coaching career as the Head Age Group Coach for the CAC Stingrays swim team for 7 years.  Most recently, she is a Coach for the Colorado Stars Swim Team as the Black Group and High School Prep Group Coach and was also the Assistant Coach for Grandview High School Girls Swimming.  Additionally, Jenny has been the Age Group Chair for Colorado Swimming for the past 3 years; taking Colorado's best to the Midwest All Stars Championships and the Western Zone Championships.

Jenny truly enjoys coaching and strives to create a fun and positive environment that the athletes enjoy being a part of on a daily basis. She emphasizes the importance of proper stroke technique and uses positive feedback coupled with constructive criticism to help swimmers achieve their performance goals.  As an advocate for good sportsmanship and a strong sense of team spirit, Jenny believes in healthy competition while aiding in personal and team success. Jenny feels that the coach is responsible for assisting in the physical, psychological and social development of each athlete; pushing them to their full potential, creating mental toughness and building self-confidence. She firmly believes that the skills and fundamentals learned through training and sport will be reflected through all aspects of a swimmer’s life and therefore are extremely important.  Most importantly, her greatest goal is to share her love of swimming and instill the same passion for the sport in others.
