MACS Becomes the Only  Denver  Area Swim Team to Achieve Level 2 Recognition from  USA Swimming
Thanks to some hard work by our MACS board and coaches, MACS was recently awarded Level 2 Recognition from USA Swimming, which is awarded to clubs that have created a working blueprint for developing strong, stable, financially sound, and athletically productive organizations. Designed over a two-year period by USA Swimming's Club Development Committee, this voluntary program presents four levels of achievement across four component areas—business and organizational success, parent and volunteer development, coach development and education, and athlete development and performance---deemed critical to long-term club success. The program encourages clubs to establish organizational goals and benchmark their progress toward those goals.

This recognition along with our 2010 Silver Medal Club status with USA Swimming means that MACS is being recognized for its many accomplishments with swimmer development and club management.  Congratulations to our coaches, swimmers, and volunteers who have contributed to our success!

Bonnie Brandon to Compete in  Maui at the Junior Pan Pac Championship
MACS swimmer Bonnie Brandon recently qualified to compete at the 2010 Junior Pan Pac Championship in  Maui  later this month.  This meet will feature the best up and coming young swimmers in the world.  Stay tuned for more updates on how our MACS swimmers did at the Western Regional Long Course Championship, Zones, Junior Nationals, and Nationals.  There have been many outstanding swims, including Bonnie’s first-place finish in the 200 back at Junior Nationals.

Registration for Returning MACS Swimmers Scheduled for September 7
Mark your calendars for Tuesday, September 7, from 5-8 p.m. when MACS will be holding our mandatory registration for returning swimmers.  Plan to join us, turn in your paperwork and registration fees, and enjoy some food and drinks as we gear up for the 2010/2011 swim season.

Swimmer’s Edge Swim Clinic Rescheduled for August 28—Invite Interested Swimmers to Attend!
Due to some pool maintenance that needed to be completed, our swim clinic has been rescheduled to August 28 from 12-2 p.m.  This clinic is a great opportunity for anyone who might be interested in MACS to visit Pier Point, meet our coaches, and get information about the team.  We currently have about 25 swimmers registered for the clinic and we’d love to have some more.  A portion of your fundraising obligations will be waived if you bring a new swimmer to the team who is not affiliated with a
USA   swim club, so pass out the attached flyer to friends who might be interested in MACS.

Ready to Get a Head Start on Fundraising for Next Year’s Swim Season?
Now is the perfect time to start soliciting organizations for donations toward the annual Silent Auction held during the MACS Fall Invitational on October 15-17.  The value of the items sold at auction will be applied to your fundraising obligations, less a very small portion that will be donated to the Megan Dickey Memorial Fund. Another opportunity is to sell advertisements in the meet program.  All ad sale income will be applied to your fundraising obligations.  Start thinking about businesses you might want to contact.  Attached are some forms you may wish to use to solicit silent auction donations or program ads.  Questions?  Contact  Laura Wood  at [email protected].
