MACS Volunteer Opportunities 

MACS relies upon volunteers to help with the many activities necessary to run a premier USA Swimming club in Colorado. These jobs help the team operate smoothly for the coaches, swimmers, and parents.  MACS’ goal is to have each family take on a position that best suits their talents and time constraints.  
 

 

Board of Directors

President - A one-year term following a year as president elect.  The president chairs all monthly board meetings, prepares the agenda, and is a point of contact for team concerns.

President Elect- A one- year term spent assisting the president and chairing the meetings in the president’s absence.

Treasurer- Two-year term, prepares yearly budget and
 works with bookkeeper in paying bills; prepares input on the financial status of the team; prepares annual registration packet.


Secretary- Two-year term, take minutes of the board meetings and distributes to members.

 

Communications- Two-year term, maintain website, send communication emails to team


Member at Large (3)- Two-year term, work on special projects as determined by the board.

Facilities- Assists Head Coach with evaluating and problem-solving facilities issues at Pier Point. Assists with maintenance as necessary.

 

MACS Meets

MACS holds large meets in October and January, March and June and a smaller one in the summer.  These events are the biggest fundraisers for MACS.  All families are expected to volunteer at the meets in some capacity-- timing, running, scoring, ribbons, or helping with the concession stand.

The following are higher commitment positions.  Please note that these positions will draw on the general membership for staffing.

Admin Official (AO)- Sets up equipment for timing system -Verifies official times and posts results -Requires certification from USA Swimming

AO Trainee/ Scorer Runs computer with assistance -prints and posts results -runs labels for ribbons -runs official’s reports

Concessions Coordinator- (2) Sets up and staffs the concession stand for the meet

Console Operator- Runs the timing consolet that runs the scoreboard and works with the scorer

Head Timer-(1) Makes sure all lanes are staffed with timers at all times

Hospitality- (2) Staffs and sets up a room for coaches and officials at the meet  -Arranges for pick and/or picks up catering orders at restaurants for some meets


Meet Director- In charge of the administrative side of the meet -Assists head coach in getting USA sanction, communicates with coaches from invited teams, sets up meet on Meet Manager and seeds the meet -Consults with Meet Referee and volunteers including Concessions, Hospitality, and Safety Marshall

Meet Marshal-Ensures all facility rules are followed -Responsible for the safety of all athletes and spectators at the pool
 

USA Swimming officials- Responsible for enforcing swimming rules and facilitating fair competition at sanctioned meets -Requires certification from USA Swimming



Pier Point

Cleaning -Clean Pier Point clubhouse area and locker rooms.

Snow & Ice removal

Groundskeeping- landscaping, weeding, tree pruning, edging, weed whacking
