MACS Weekly Splash: October 24
Welcome to Our New Seniors Coach
MACS is pleased to announce that Andy Levine will be joining our coaching staff. Andy will be working primarily with our Senior swimmers. He currently works as an 8th grade language arts teacher at Cimarron Middle School in Parker and is the head girls swim coach at Legend High School. Andy has served as an assistant coach with Swim Dogs and as an age group coach for CAC, along with several summer league teams. As a younger swimmer, he swam for Mile Hi Aquatics and Riptide, where he was a Zone, Sectional, and high school state qualifier. He is currently training to possibly swim the English Channel in 2011 or 2012 and completed his first Ironman competition in 2008. Please extend a warm MACS welcome to Andy when he starts coaching in November.
Thanks to MACS Invitational Volunteers
The MACS meet was a huge success! Nearly 700 swimmers and over 2,000 spectators attended the meet. Special thanks to all the MACS families who volunteered, provided food for the officials, and helped with set up and clean up. We received great feedback from coaches and officials about the efficiency of the meet, the smiling volunteers, and the great food. Swimmers enjoyed the Chipotle Burrito cards that were given out to heat winners on Friday and Saturday. We saw some fast swims especially since this was the first meet of the season.
We also have a few outstanding auction items left. Please contact Laura Wood at [email protected] by October 31 if you’d like to bid on these items.

Clinic Scheduled for Parents Interested in Being USA Swimming Officials
Clinics including stroke and turn, starter, and deck ref, will be held on November 12-14 at the North Jeffco meet. USA Swimming recommends that all teams have at least 10% of their families volunteering as officials. MACS needs a total of 14 officials. We currently have 8 active officials so we need 6 more. Officials truly enjoy their volunteer job and have the best seat in the house. They report that swim meets fly by and are far more interesting than they are when you are just a spectator. It is also good for parents to model the role of a volunteer and to gain a better understanding of the sport of swimming. In addition, MACS officials may apply the $100 cost of USA Swimming membership and attire to their fundraising obligations. If you are interested in being an official or have any questions please contact Susan Bobka at [email protected] You'll be glad you did!
TIPS Class Scheduled for Parents Interested in Working at the Pepsi Center
If you are interested in working concessions at the Pepsi Center to earn money that may be applied to your MACS fundraising obligations as well as meet fees and suits/equipment, there is a TIPS training class being held at the Pepsi Center on November 1 starting at 5:45 p.m. Please contact Marc Barocio at [email protected] if you are interested in attending.
