MACS Swimmer's Edge Clinic Schedule for August 6 at Pier Point
Know any swimmers who would like a chance to meet our coaches and see what year-round swimming is like? MACS will be holding a clinic for non-MACS swimmers on Saturday, August 6 from 9 to 11 at Pier Point. The fees for the clinic are $25. This is a great opportunity to introduce new swimmers to MACS. Catherine, Gregory, and Andy L. will work with swimmers on all four strokes and turns. New Swimmer Registration Set for September 8 at Eaglecrest
Swimmers who will be new to MACS this fall should plan to attend placement night at Eaglecrest on September 8 at 5:30 p.m. MACS is very interested in growing our team, so please help us get the word out by sharing the attached flyer with anyone who might be interested in year-round swimming. Anyone who refers a new swimmer to MACS, who is not transferring from another USA Swimming club, will receive one month of fundraising credit.
Sectional Swimmers at Open Water Nationals and the Santa Clara International Grand Prix
Our sectional swimmers are staying busy this summer at some high-profile national meets. Bonnie Brandon recently attended a prestigious open water swim camp in Florida, and capped off her week by swimming a 10k race in the USA Swimming Open Water National Championships in Fort Myers, Florida. Despite some very rough water, which eventually forced the race to be called off, Bonnie placed 12th with a time of 2:25:24.705. Open water swimming became a new Olympic event at the 2008 games in Beijing and is beginning to gain quite a lot of international attention. Congratulations, Bonnie!
Bonnie and Lauren Stoeckle competed in last week’s Santa Clara International Grand Prix, which featured many of the nation’s top swimmers and Olympians. Lauren placed 56th in the 200 breast and 41st in the 100 breast. Bonnie placed 12th in the 800 free, 14th in the 100 back, 19th in the 200 back, 24th in the 400 free, and 45th in the 200 free. Congratulations, girls!

Changes to Our 2011/2012 Billing
A few changes are in the works for 2011/2012 fees and billings. Registration fees for USA Swimming have been set at $59 per swimmer. In addition, TeamUnify, the system we use for billing, has made some changes. A billing summary of monthly charges will be sent out around the 26th of each month. Automatic payments will then be processed on the first of the month based on the fees in the summary. Lastly, fundraising dues for 2011/2012 will be determined soon based on projections for next year’s roster. Please know that MACS is committed to keeping all of our dues and fees as low as possible.
