Swim-a-thon

Congratulations to all the swimmers who participated in last weekend's Swim-a-thon. As of this morning, the donation total reached $8,659.96 with 49 swimmers participating in the event. Great job everyone!

We especially want to thank the many parents who not only helped our kids with donations but showed up with a tremendous amount of food for our hungry swimmers. Your efforts helped make an outstanding team event and are greatly appreciated.

If you still have donations, the website will continue to accept credit card and offline donations until May 12th. All checks/cash donations will need to be turned in by this date as well. A report will be submitted to USA Swimming on May 14th and participation certificates, pins, and incentives will be delivered in the coming weeks.

Again, thank you for helping to make this such a successful event and supporting MACS.

Officials Training

Officials are vital to the success of the sport of swimming and to MACS as a team. We have arranged a special officials training session at Pier Point pool on Saturday, May 12, 2012 from 8am-Noon. (It is likely that we will be done before then so you will have a large part of your day left!)

The first part of your training will involve learning about strokes, USA officials guidelines and the procedure to becoming an official. The second part will involve watching some of our MACS swimmers swimming correct and incorrect strokes. (the swimmers love being asked to do a stroke incorrectly on purpose!)

To help get you started MACS even gives you a fundraising credit to pay for your USA swimming membership and your officials shirt for the FIRST Year!

Frank Rodriquez will be conducting the training. He has been an official for more than 12 years and is dedicated to MACS and the sport of swimming. Our MACS President Larry Malik will be attending and bringing homemade breakfast burritos along with some other breakfast items for you to enjoy! (Larry has been an official for over a year).

If you have any questions about becoming an official that you would like to ask prior to coming to the training please contact Larry at 303-618-5758 or Susan Bobka at 720-289-2156.

Tagawa Gardens

MACS is partnering with Tagawa Gardens again this spring for a very easy fundraising program.  MACS supporters may purchase items at Tagawa between April 13 and June 13 and present a  MACS card to the cashier at the time of purchase.  Tagawa Gardens will then give MACS a rebate of 10% to 25% of the purchases made by MACS supporters using the sliding scale below:

  • MACS supporters spend up to $2500—10% back
  • MACS supporters spend $2500-$5000—15% back
  • MACS supporters spend $5000-$10,000—20% back
  • MACS supporters spend over $10,000—25% back

pdf of the card and a   flyer are attached so that you may print your own copies and share these with family and friends.

Tagawa Gardens is just a short distance from Pier Point and has the state’s best selection of flowers, trees, and other landscaping items, including patio furniture and cut flowers.  Questions? Call Susan Arnold at 303-840-0067.
