Thank You To All Of Our Volunteers
THANK YOU to everyone who made the MACS Fall Invitational possible. We successfully hosted a meet with 750 swimmers, over a thousand spectators and more than 50 coaches and officials! I know I run the risk of leaving someone off my list but I am going to try anyway because some of these individuals literally volunteered for all sessions (close to 32 hours) of the meet!
Thanks to our Meet Director/Entry Chair Pam Malik. She did a terrific job seamlessly managing the computer and the technical side of the meet. She spent the entire meet in front of the computer making sure everything ran according to plan. Thanks to Marc Barocio for being the meet scorer and Pam's right hand man. Thanks to Lisa Bradford for logistical support and "all other duties as assigned" Thanks to the Console operators- Todd Holmes and Shawn Rowland. Thanks to our professional announcer Chris Tallon. Thanks to our Safety Marshall Stuart Urban and the vest wearers for making sure that the facility and warm-ups were safe.
A million thanks to Ken Morris, our Meet Referee. He has not had a swimmer on MACS for 4 years and still volunteers many many hours for MACS!! That’s true dedication. Thanks to all the officials who volunteered at the meet but especially to our dedicated MACS officials Brian Bobka, Larry Malik, Tom Daniels, Jerry Hoban, Scott Remington, most of whom volunteered all 7 sessions!!
Thanks of course to our MACS coaches Andy, Catherine, Gregory, Andy L and Laura who worked before, during and after the meet to make sure our swimmers all had a good meet experience. They are a dedicated bunch!
Thanks to Mary Lou and Don Waite for running the hospitality area and for all the parents who donated food so that we can uphold our reputation for having the best meet hospitality in Colorado! (Some officials volunteer just so they can enjoy Deb Saya's elaborate home made sweets!!) Managing to feed all the coaches, volunteers and officials 7 meals over the course of the weekend is no small feat.
Thanks to Dagmar Korn and Mitzie Gibbs for coordinating the concession area! This is a big job and a much needed service! Thanks to Raveena Tremblay, Charlene Zheng, Risa Valentine, Sarah Stromberg, Wen Vu, Erin Ficken and KJ Newkirk who helped work this area too. (Bet I missed someone!)
Thanks to Susan Arnold for preparing and printing the programs, Elizabeth Williams and swimmer Kenny Hayes for selling the programs for two full days!
Thanks to Jan van der Sanden, Chelsie Barocio, Frank Saya and Holland Tudor for handing out Heat Winner Chipotle cards and Clif bars! The swimmers love this meet and the heat winner prizes are a great incentive for them to swim FAST! We are one of the only competitive teams who recognize heat winners!
Thanks to those who loaded up at Pier Point and drove over to Arapahoe and/or helped set up: Lisa Bradford, Maliks, Bobkas, Dagmar Korn, Mary Lou Waite, Tami Smith,Erin Ficken, Michael Mcgonigle, Sherri McAninch, Elena Martin, Yuko and Timmy Martin and Gina Napolitano. Thanks to those who stuck around after the meet (You know who you are and you know we love you for doing this!) to cleanup and to Mahn Vu, Todd Holmes, Bobkas, Maliks and Waites for transporting everything back to Pier Point.
Last but not least- THANKS TO OUR TIMERS! I was truly amazed how our MACS families stepped up to get the job done. It was great to see so many new families sign up! We truly couldn’t have a meet without you! Timing is tiring and LONG. We know this but at the same time, you are at the center of the action. Thanks to Susan Arnold, Gina Napolitano and Chelsie Barrocio for being Head Timers.
I know that I most likely missed a few people. I apologize but I truly want everyone to know that the meet is a team effort and I appreciate all the time you gave to ensure that our meet was well run and well fed!
With Thanks and Appreciation,
Susan Bobka,
MACS Parent Meet Volunteer
As everyone has figured out by now, hosting a large meet is no small achievement. If you see Susan Bobka, please offer her a 'Thank You' for organizing the entire volunteer team. Without her efforts, MACS would not be able to host such a successful meet for our swimmers. Thank you Susan!!!
