NICK CAVATARO, HEAD COACH 

Nick Cavataro has led the Dolphins since 1977, making the 2025–2026 season his 49th year at YWCA Greenwich. Under his direction, the team has achieved remarkable success, including three qualifiers for the 2016 Olympic Trials, two for the 2020 Tokyo Olympics, and one for the 2024 Trials. The Dolphins also won YWCA National Championships in 1982, 1984, and 1985, along with numerous runner-up finishes.

A former distance freestyle and butterfly standout at Iona Prep, Manhattan College, and the Gotham Aquatic Association, Nick was a three-time All-Metro Collegiate selection. Beyond the Dolphins, he serves as Head Men’s and Women’s Coach and Director of Aquatics at Iona College and has guided Westchester Country Club to eight league titles. An ASCA Level 4 coach, he is active in both national and collegiate swim coaching associations and has presented at international clinics. Nick and his wife, Susan, have six children who have all grown up here in Greenwich.
